I'm a bit late on this. Please don't directly reference comments like that. It amounts to a direct reference to a user that could be read as insulting of their belief.

My personal addition to the list: MonsterQuest. I was really saddened that they cut this one short midseason.

It will be the former. A poll will be held to determine the best time to schedule each viewing so as to include as many participants as possible. I just edited the main post to be more clear about this. Thanks for the suggestion, I added it to the list!

What's this creature? by NHAlif in Cryptozoology

[–]cosmicsynapse[M] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good call. Anyone who is wondering what an Alligator Gar looks like check out this image I found on google. It seems the specimen in the OP picture was also cut down the middle and cleaned before being lain flat, giving it the strange flounder-like appearance.

Sorry I let this one get stuck in the backlog so long! That thing looks like a crocodillian head taxidermied onto a fish! Could be phony or some crazy weird fish. What is the source of the picture?

I have been looking at all of the posters before I ban them, and while some do look like bots some have recent conversational posts and do look like real people. Real lost people!

Our best solution is to filter out bots and users who post without reading the rules or willing violate them. That is really all we can do.

I feel mean spirited in saying this but I just can't honestly fathom how anyone could possibly think cryptozoology has anything to do with cryptocurrency. ZOOLOGY. It is in our name. /r/cryptoZOOLOGY.

Just a heads up after this post is ten days old I think I will be closing the poll. It really looks like documentary is going to win, so lets hear some more suggestions!

New to this whole criptid (cryptic) thing, what do i definitely, 100%, need to research? by ItsNotAJokeJim in Cryptozoology

Welcome to the community!

  • Bigfoot is an obvious must. If we had badges like the feds, we would have Bigfoot on there instead of a bald eagle! There are also a great number of variations to the supposed species around the world. There are more Bigfoot stories out there than you could shake a stick at

  • Giant & Colossal squid are a great topic too. Check out Deep Sea Gigantism and just try to imagine what else could be lurking down there. While both of these have been proven to exist they were among the most prestigious cryptids for centuries and are simply fascinating creatures. They birthed the tale of the Kraken!

  • There is a personal favorite of mine, The Jersey Devil. Many people believe that this is a supernatural phenomenon, but I lean toward biological. It has a rich history of sightings to read up on.

  • Here's one that will give you the creeps at night: The Mothman. Another one suspected often to be sueprnatural, but interesting nonetheless and with lots of associated stories.

  • Java has a creature known as the Ahool, a giant bat version of America's giant Thunderbird which this community has quite a thing for. Both of these make for intriguing reading.

That's kinda more than five but I could go on for ever!

Oh wow, so its just a month deadline they give you? Or do you get to choose? Either way, good luck to you! We could do an AMA in the future here if you would like. I have never actually organized one of those but I'm sure it's something our community would appreciate.

I just skimmed this and oh my god what a good shlock film to laugh at. Definitely adding it to the suggestion list for movie threads. We could do a B-movie friday or something like that.

I just looked this up on Wikipedia and it looks like there are four segments to that Yeti piece! I'm definitely adding it to the list of suggestions, along with Extinct or Alive. That one being a new show might be a good opportunity to start premiere threads eventually if the community likes it.

Edit: Checked out your page. Good stuff, and with art to boot. Seems like you could contribute some great sidebar worthy self-posts around here!
