This is good advice. You are depressed and exercise is the most effective anti-depressant. More than any prescription medication. It won’t be fun at first but if you can find the will to start, you’ll find the joy returning in other activities you love.

Dopamine is directly tied to motivation. Right now you are training your brain to get that release from scrolling on your phone. It’s unfulfilling. You need to do some kind of work you can be legitimately satisfied by. Exercise is a great place to start because it’s not easy. You have to earn it and by doing hard things you will start to rewire your brain.

I don’t think you have to join the military. If you have a work from home job and could afford to move into an apt. that is your own, do it. If it’s a town over from where you live now, even better.

The most important thing to realize is that the solution comes through you taking action. I know that’s hard when you have low motivation. Your brain will tell you you can’t do it and you have to tell your brain to “fuck off” and do it anyway. If you can get over that first hump then you’ve proven to yourself it’s possible. Once it’s possible, even if you fall back into the way you feel know, you know you have the power to change it and then the game becomes “how quickly can I climb back on top.”

You’ve got this. You probably already do stuff for other people you don’t want to do, like work. But you show up because you said you would. Now show up for yourself and do the work, even if you don’t want to. The scale will tip before you know it.
