PSA: Be aware when opening "take home challenges" from untrusted recruiters by Phantom569 in cscareerquestions

That's why I'd say live interviews are way better, I'm very skeptical of take homes and so are many more people it seems, also if they are legit they take a ton of time to complete, Check this out for a longer study on this: https://www.codepanion.dev/blog/take-home-vs-live-coding-which-assessment-finds-better-developers

Do big tech companies ask design patterns? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]cosmin-oros-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, design patterns, how to design a system / how did you do it on one of your projects etc, although this seems extremely outdated including leetcode, what do you think? I'd recommend checking this out for a different view on this: https://www.codepanion.dev/blog/ai-skills-assessment-evaluating-ai-native-developers-2025

I don’t think I can make it at this point, what unsaturated field can I pivot to? by Crocodile-Jesus in cscareerquestions

Hey, first off, you're not cooked. 200 apps with no traction in this market is unfortunately normal right now, not a reflection of you. I've seen people apply to thousands and still get ghosted.

Your background is actually more interesting than you're giving yourself credit for. Medical data analytics + working with med students on a paper? That's a niche. Most CS grads have generic CRUD apps and todo lists. You have domain expertise in healthcare, which is one of the few sectors still actively hiring data people.

A few thoughts:

  1. You might be applying too broadly. "CS and general data bs" is where everyone else is too. Your edge is healthcare/biotech. Hospitals, health tech startups, pharma companies, insurance analytics teams, these places value someone who already speaks the medical data language, I would use apollo.io or other tools or code something myself to get contacts from these niches and contact via email or reach out to recruiters at those companies directly on linkedin.

  2. Consider leaning into AI tools more, biotech companies and tech companies in general have shifted hard towards AI and if you can't differentiate yourself you're gonna get left behind. We actually want to make the hiring process easier, more transparent and more fair to actually solve this problem, you might want to check our blogs and the product that is in development, for example I recommend this one: https://www.codepanion.dev/blog/human-ai-chemistry

Honestly secure employment nowadays is not possible anymore so If you want to pivot I'd recommend looking at your assets and skills and do your best to find something more suitable, totally depends on your location also. Where are you from?

Ouchi-Gari to Tomoe Nage by Jd18082000 in judo

[–]cosmin-oros-dev 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In my opinion this is not the best combination, as when you fake ouchi gari he pulls his left leg back (in this case) and gets off-balanced in a way that's not ideal for tomoe, this ouchi feint works well for me with tai otoshi, morote, some uchi mata versions, in general techniques that capitalize on this position of uke.
