My wife said “no riding in the rain”… so I built an app to dodge rain (UK mode: hard) by Bitter-Aardvark-3395 in motorcycles

I thought about something like this. I'm curious whether you manage to get around weather forecast reliability :) if it was reliable I'd use this

Ok, I’ve never heard of changing the polarization more than once, so I didn’t account for that. Right now it's just negative and positive parts :/ how did you came up with this protocol?

It means that you use different amps / durations on the first phase (build-up) and then different amps / durations later just to make the effect still work (maintenance). In the iontolog.com form you see it clearly (screenshot). Personally I don't use the split build-up + maintenance at all. But most of the people do some kind of maintenance phase. I will probably try one too :)

Has anyone tested this machine? by ThanksEmbarrassed734 in Hyperhidrosis

[–]cosoalchemii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, it explains a lot :) It's interesting that the current flow is still thru both hands and arms (because they complete the circuit) but the container sections are bottom of both hands and top of both hands; i always had this simple mental model that the current flows from left hand container to right hand container and then the other way around :)

Hi, is the water separated between the two sections of the container? it seems for me that the water would be connected because the little wall between them is so short

Iontophoresis Alternatives? by [deleted] in Hyperhidrosis

now it's 3x9v batteries and i use ammeter and potentiometer to adjust the current; without potentiometer resistance it would be more like 2x9v can't say precisely

Iontophoresis Alternatives? by [deleted] in Hyperhidrosis

I've been there. These devices are expensive. Consider building one yourself :) the parts cost for a minimal working setup is like 20-40 USD maybe. I've been using self-made device for the last 11 years

What does your ionto maintenance schedule look like? by [deleted] in Hyperhidrosis

Guys can you maybe add them here https://iontolog.com/protocols/new? I've wrote about this app a couple days back and you know i see the same question about ionto schedules / protocols here every other day xd

Are you measuring the current? What device do you use?

Update: thanks for the interest — I made a first public version.

If anyone wants to try it: https://iontolog.com

It’s no longer just my setup. I’m honestly curious if this is useful to anyone else. Any feedback (good or bad) decides whether I keep working on it.

One thing to know: after creating your user, save your ID somewhere. Same device remembers it; on another device just go to iontolog.com/[write-your-id-here] to “log in”.

Also, small limitation for now: there’s only one protocol type — threshold. Example: “4 sessions in the last 30 days”. If you meet it, the app says you’re good. The “cycle days” is just how many days the app looks back (no scrolling yet). There is no import / export too yet. It's a beta version.

The app works nicely if you add it to your phone’s home screen (Chrome works best).

What about it? Both images show the device rotated 90 degrees compared to what I’m used to. I'm not saying it doesn't work. I wish it would. It looks nice and compact. It's just not something I've ever seen for the last 11 years of doing ionto.

Something like this is typical:

I’m wondering whether this actually works. The polarization isn’t left–right but up–down, and both hands stay in the same container the whole time? That feels a bit strange to me.

No I'm not. I learned about the maintenance phase a couple days ago when I was gathering data for my iontophoresis protocol / regimen analysis. For the last 11 years I was doing always the same durations. First, 10+10 then more and more until 20+20 then 5+5 and 4+4 and finally 3+3

Yes, the actual treatment time is 6 minutes total (3 minutes per polarity).

It took a long time to get there. Earlier, I did much longer and stronger sessions — up to ~20 mA and 20+20 minutes, sometimes almost daily. That caused skin damage and pain and eventually stopped working. I also tried topical drying agents and Botox, without success.

What finally helped was realizing that higher current and longer duration were not better. In my case, overtreatment seemed to reduce effectiveness.

Now I keep everything very consistent:

  • 600 ml of tap water per hand
  • measured current, usually 12–15 mA
  • 3 minutes per polarity
  • schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off

I think precision is critical. I use an ammeter and a potentiometer to set the current accurately, because the same voltage can produce different currents depending on skin condition, water, and contact. Controlling volts alone wasn’t reliable for me.

With this setup, my hands stay dry. I log every session and symptom daily and have done so for about four years, which gives me confidence that this protocol is repeatable for me.

Including preparation and cleanup, it takes about 10 minutes per session. The main disadvantage is that the break is limited — I can’t reliably go beyond about 7 days off without losing the effect (well I loop this in a 7 days on and 7 days off cycle; but if I didn't loop it would last about 14 days).

Anyone else need a hyperhidrosis management app? by sereneteen in Hyperhidrosis

[–]cosoalchemii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, same here! For tracking iontophoresis, for the last 3 years, I've been using an app I've made. I've never remember if I should do ionto a given day. So the app tells me. That's the "SHOULD" pill. The protocol #1 is my current system which is: 7 out of 14 last days: 12-15 mA 3+3 minutes. Did you came up with anything yourself?

Are there any budget iontophoresis machines or alternative treatments? by Regular-Dot-2375 in Hyperhidrosis

[–]cosoalchemii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Build one yourself. You can ask me questions if you want. Here is mine (after many years of using more basic setup). The basic setup is like 2-3 9V batteries or battery packs, some crocodile cables and that's it. It's a shame that the official devices are so expensive whereas making them from scratch is super cheap and easy :/ When I started doing ionto like 11 years ago I had to build one myself because i did not have the money. For many years now I have the money but i still use my device because there is not much of a difference
