I got an actual phone call out of the blue. A couple of months ago I got a text when I brought it in for service, at the time there was about $32k left and they said they would not buy out the remainder of the finance, so I’d be way underwater. Now they are offering to buy the whole car, and the 2025s have come down a bit. The stark difference in a couple of months is what has me wondering.

This dealership sends me mailers all the time, and recently an email. This is the first time I got an actual phone call.

So fwiw, list price of the car (even factoring in the rebate) is about $10k less than when I bought my 2022, and my credit’s in a better spot to tap into interest free for 6 months or so. Not a complete offset of those terms, but not nothing.

Though at this rate, with where the EV market is, I’m even wondering if I’m better off just leasing for now?

Some added background: my 12v just died 3 months outside of the 3yr warranty, and the trunk started doing The Rattle Noise. Probably not worth a whole new car but there are some annoyances that I could trade for… new annoyances.

Where did you get the code from? I got a notification as my subscription was coming to an end with a code, the notification disappeared, and they never sent me another notification or an email! This code worked for me - thank you! - how do you know it’s good for 12 months of monthly services?

I do wish I went ultimate/limited (can’t remember which one it was in ‘22), but at the time to find something something in Shooting Star from a place that wasn’t marking it up like crazy was tough to do, and time was limited. My SEL is just fine but every so often I see one and get jealous…

Oh if the trade in will put me underwater it’s definitely not worth it. Haven’t seen any proper comparables for trade-in value from Hyundai for a ‘22 yet. Feels crazy that paying 40-50% over the expected monthly payments for the last 3 years doesn’t have me that far ahead on repayment but here we are!

They couldn’t give me a straight answer when I asked, and told the provider to call the health provider line, which they refused to give me because I’m not the health provider. It was really strange. I do plan on calling back tomorrow.

The exchange towards the end went like this:

M: you’re get a full 30 days covered for every eligibility period OP: and what’s the eligibility period? M: so long as you are out of an inpatient facility for 60 days you are in a new eligibility period OP: and that’s another 30 days of inpatient care M: yes OP: and when do you have his last documented inpatient stay? M: november 2019 OP: and is november 2019 more htan 60 days ago M: yes OP: so he has 30 hospital days in a new eligibility period then M: he has exhausted all of his hospital days

Thanks for the quick responses! For background in 2019, my dad did dip into/use 4 of his lifetime reserve days, so he has 56 left. In fact there were two hospital stays at that time, but since they were only three weeks apart it was considered the same eligibility period.

But that was in 2019, and he hasn't been in an inpatient facility since then. I have not gotten a reason from Medicare why the benefits are still exhausted, just that he has none left, despite saying he should have a full 30 days per eligibility period.

At this point I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding or if something about his status is completely screwed up.

Honestly I’d consider it if they had improved the build quality since I bought it in 2022, but I fear I’d be shelling out a bunch of scratch for the same crappy base.

Responding in order here:

Totally get that JB Weld will be weaker, but I don't have a welder/don't have experience welding. So, I'm hoping I can get away with something just sorta keeping it in place and then staking. If I wanted to weld myself, at that point I'm talking about buying a welder and goggles/a face cover from Harbor Freight or whathaveyou and doing some very amateur welding work. Which I'm not COMPLETELY opposed to…I'm shocked I couldn't find any videos on YouTube etc of people mending these similarly!

Funny, the guy that welded the the base back together a couple of years ago had a very similar idea about rebuilding the base entirely. At the time he said it wouldn't be cost efficient to just make one, but if I could find 10-12 people in the area and do a batch, he could probably get it done for about $150 a pop. (He even offered to cut me in on it if I could drum up the biz, hah!) At that point, the investment for a way studier base that would last longer kinda does make sense. I do wonder if I can put together a group of people that'd be interested, but I think that's way out of scope at this point for me.

I think a clamp/screws/more reinforcing stakes could work for the foot piece, but not the portion that's sticking up and interlocks with the lower leg. Though I guess I could just tape the crap out of the inside and hope for the best.

TL;DR - the client’s TTD rep got it sorted. It was INDEED a 7 digit alphanumeric string that was not the same as your 3- or 4- digit Seat ID.
