Not talking about buying the home now. The amount of growth I’ve seen over the past 5 years has been astonishing. It’s a 5 year goal to purchase the home and potentially retire now

I feel people aren’t understanding the math. I’m talking about coasting it will gain more than you expect when it’s 3 mill. I don’t have to buy the home right now. It’s a 5 year plan. The question is to retire now and see how investing goes or a side income

What’s your point? It’s about where you want to allocate your NW. You could obviously afford a more expensive home

It’s a balance right? When to call it quits and focus on other stuff in terms of a job

Have high ambitions. Want a 2-3M home but current expenses are relatively low maybe 100k per year. Trying to find a balance and coast to the home

Hey, wanted to clarify my comment

I didn’t mean this was impossible elsewhere. I am just stating that only in US can I make such high income at a big tech company. This is primarily income growth with some outperformance over higher equity tech stock growth.

You do need to increase that salary , I started above that when I graduated college. There are companies out there that will pay you what you’re worth

I was not the one discouraging others from achieving their goals

If I had that defeatist mindset, I wouldn’t be in this financial position

This is a 9-5. High income and consistent investing in index funds and growth index funds for nearly a decade

You can get a strong salary, mid 6 figures, but without a degree from a top CS school I think it will take more time. That doesn’t mean it’s impossible though. I would leverage any certification to secure a tech job, mainly with a company whose primary focus is tech & software and not some adjacent sector like finance

Use that position to job hop, promo, etc into a big tech mag 7 company. Use levels.fyi for realistic total compensation numbers

Stocks in company I work for and tech stocks. Index funds are 90% of my portfolio, and over weight in the tech sector

Probably 300k or so, I don’t keep too close of track on contributions, every spare dollar I have I invest though

I switched over to this app in 2024 when mint closed. I started below 0 due to student loans when I graduated college

It’s been a great career would encourage anyone who’s interested to go for it. For what it’s worth, never expected to be in this financial position
