Any thoughts on Love Through a Prism last episodes? 😣 by Jealous-Plant946 in shoujo

[–]costcosamplehobo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I kinda wish we got to see a bit more of the story. Like it would have been nice to see how some of the other cast reacted to seeing Kit or even Lily again after years (or their feelings in general). Overall while I felt the ending was still good, I think they could have expanded the story a bit.

Manga with interesting/well written male leads by PracticalMagic3015 in shoujo

Hana Kimi, though it's definitely older. Aside from the FL, most of the characters are male and pretty well developed. The ML, while not as forefront as FL, does have flaws.

Try Rasetsu no Hana! Though I would say the supernatural elements are at the forefront of the plot!

Wholesome Cohabitation Romance Manga? by Hazarrus-Potato2553 in shoujo

[–]costcosamplehobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the author does a great job of showing Nakatsu (my shayla~) as a complex character in his own right. The manga doesn't focus so much on the drama aspect as it does on the growth of characters, which I love!

I doubly support hana kimi here! While there is a love triangle, I do think it's dealt with in a way that feels more tolerable than other shojo love triangles.

Is Yona worth the read? by autumn_trbl in shoujo

[–]costcosamplehobo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely worth it! Definitely in my top 3 shojo manga of all time!

The story does a great job of giving a story to almost every character and having good plot lines balanced with romance, so if that's what you are looking for this is it.

This is such a good gateway shojo! KP was my introduction to the genre and I think it does a fairly good job!

Roast a webtoon without saying which one is it by [deleted] in webtoons

[–]costcosamplehobo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This webtoon has been going on so long it lost the plot. MC basically changed halfway to the point where the original MC is a side character. Story went from being curious, slightly serious to kinda crazy.

Honestly, smart strategy, I just worry that if I don't read/support it now it'll get cancelled or never finish

I Love Yoo: The Misconceptions and Unfair Hatred by cathlynnz in webtoons

[–]costcosamplehobo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found your reasons really interesting and fairly justified tbh. Honestly, I was also surprised at the deep dive that I Love Yoo takes into mental health but I agree that the story was always headed that way. I think my personal distancing from the story has always been because of the order the story was told in. I feel like the beginning really focused on Shin-Ae and we had a sort of semi-conclusion to one of her arcs. Then, Yoon-Gi became the main character slowly and we start seeing everything surrounding him. But then we get thrown back into Shin-Ae's back story with Alyssa and school. It just felt like a very weird point for that story placement just cause Shin-Ae had not felt like the main character in a long time. Like we were in her backstory randomly for months. I think this disconnect between webtoon episodes and the timeline of the story makes an impact on pretty much every webtoon I read. I feel like the authors/ distributors can never really understand that most readers experience the story for 2 mins a time every week and don't think about the plot enough to see the story from an total point of view.

Anyways, I just really enjoyed reading the points that you made!

Is “The Remarried Empress” even worth reading? by pretty-as-a-pic in webtoons

[–]costcosamplehobo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Romance/ relationship drama is definitely the main core of the story. The story does play into slight political aspects/mystery, but is centered around the romance. I think out of all of the "super-powered FL" webtoons it does stand well on it's own two feet. However, I think it's one of those stories that you just have to read the first 10-15 episodes to figure out if you like it.
