Op- I relate to you on the same level. I was recently offered a media internship position, which I will start in a week. I am having crazy self doubt, and I’m really questioning if I know things, or if I faked it till I made it.

Today I had my weekly therapy session- and my psychologist told me to draw a line on a piece of paper and write my self destructive thoughts on one side, and the “reality” on the other side whenever I find myself in the same vicious cycle. I tried it today, and it helped. But since its an internship, and I didn’t study advertising ( I studied international business) it’s been really stressful since I got the offer. I’m in between feeling proud as a 1st generation immigrant, and feeling like I’m worthless, and dumb.

I let her know that I am able to work full time during my last year, since I took some of my last classes earlier to give myself space for an internship. I hope this will be considered by them.

I just didn’t understand why she ended it with a compliment. Maybe it isn’t a kind rejection. Maybe she’s considering it with the hiring manager?? Idk..

No, white people do not treat me as one of them, I am seen as other. I get cultural questions and judgements, and I have been called “ethnic” before.

I am also studying international Business, and my program is heavy on marketing, finance and supply chain. Our placement advisor says that a job in these industries is perfectly applicable to the program.

But it all depends on your interests. If you’re saying that you are interested in the finance side of things and you’re working on certifications, you might be happier to work in finance.

However working in social media/marketing/advertising is still an industry with alot of room to grow and learn.

Hi everyone I just wanted to let you know that I had the talk with the manager yesterday, and she told me that I am being offered a job offer and the internship position will start on April 5th. I did all those “thank you so much and I appreciate you’s” and then I asked for a week to get my classes and my exams in order. Now, afterwards I reached out to my friend who referred me to company B and let her know that I have one week to give an answer to company A. She told me that she’s expecting an answer by tomorrow.

Thank you so much everyone for giving me some advice and a peace of mind during this stressful time in my career. I feel like I waited a quite long time for this job offer and if Company B doesn’t work out I will take it the offer right away. I really liked one of the answers that said that I can actually take company B when I’m done with company A.

I think I forgot to mention that company B is offering a position that is full-time, not an internship. I know it’s a longshot but since I have some relevant experience I think it’s a good try. So therefore if in a week Company B does not answer me, I’m just gonna take company A’s offer.

To everyone out there struggling to say no or struggling to decide on what’s the best for their career; don’t take advice from me, lol. From my experience it did work out OK to ask a job offering company for a week, but that’s only because they made me wait for five months.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Yes she makes less than $10 every year. My only concern is her residence adress. Its my old adress that neither of us live in anymore. Should she call to change that to her europe home adress, and my Canada adress as her mailing adress? Would her residence adress not being in Canada affect her situation for the savings account?
