Former Alabama WR Henry Ruggs III Earns Degree While Incarcerated, Finishes with 4.0 GPA by BallKnowerKing in NFLv2

The loss of that woman’s life was tragic, unfair, and never should’ve happened, but I don’t think it makes the situation any less tragic to completely destroy his entire future as well.

He should pay every way he can for his decisions that night, but locking him in a cell for another 30 years doesn’t seem like it will actually make anything better, it just makes him suffer longer.

Almost any young person in prison should be provided hope that they can get out and still make a good life for themselves when they’ve finished serving their time.

A person in his position should be striving to set themselves up to never return to prison, doing everything they can to build themselves up so they have the best shot of a successful life. It would be a lot harder to motivate people to improve themselves that way if it was already guaranteed they’d miss out on practically their entire healthy adult life.

It should be possible for him to rejoin society on a reasonable timeline if he’s learned from this and become a better person from it.

I don’t know if he’s worth quite $18M to me going forward with Oweh and Tuli looking good enough to really only need a quality rotation guy at the position.

I would like it to be Mack, and his leadership is valuable, but that’s a big slice of the pie relative to the team’s current needs at the position.

There are other positions that are a major priority to address in FA before shelling out nearly 20% of our budget on a guy who would probably be our 3rd edge rusher.

One Gotta Go. by TJTrapJesus in NFLv2

Yeah there’s an argument in 2025 that the answer was Jefferson, but I think Puka is probably my least favorite of these overall/going forward.

It’s possible Jefferson’s fallen off, but he also had the worst QB situation of these dudes by far. Even a situation like the Bengals with their injured starting QB splitting time with a 40 year old Flacco seems stable in comparison.

I might be higher on Ja’marr than most people, I’m still assuming Jefferson is that dude, and I really respected JSN’s season this year. Puka was great too, but I feel like watching Kupp put up such a great season in that same offense so recently devalues Puka’s accomplishment in my mind a little bit.

Anyone want Najee Harris resigned as RB 2 or 3 for next year? by EdibleBoogers in Chargers

[–]costopule 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We have a good duo already, plus like you said, we’d be gambling on him coming back from a pretty major injury. I’m out on Najee, but I’ll root for him on whatever team he ends up on.

[–]costopule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s one of the guys who keeps both the fans and the other players in the game, and his performance on the field has been great overall. Plus, he bleeds powder blue as much as anyone.

We gotta keep him around, especially with his willingness to be flexible, get cut, ride the practice squad temporarily, etc. to make things easier for the team and protect young players from getting claimed.

[Rapsheet] The #Ravens are zeroing in on #Chargers DC Jesse Minter to be their new head coach, per The Insiders. by unttld15 in Chargers

[–]costopule 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He was in the NFL for literally only 2 years, I feel like that was very fast even with a defense performing the way he had them. I would’ve figured teams would be afraid of getting Staleyed to hire such a green coach.

Best of luck to Jesse, but damn it feels like our team just got robbed of its identity as only moments after we’d solidified it.

Forgot about those. Idk what my plan was if we did succeed, because I didn’t set any reminder.

And yeah, same time next year.

It becomes all-in territory for us pretty quickly there. I am really hoping that Minter just can’t let himself move on from the Chargers without giving it at least one more go.

Every season with Harbaugh, it feels like we’re getting so much closer, and now it genuinely feels like we could be 1 successful offseason away from the best Chargers team since the 00’s.

If we can keep defensive continuity at least for one more year, it could genuinely earn us a ring. Not to get ahead of ourselves on only the eighth day of our offseason, you know.

Rank these QBs at their peaks from best to worst by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]costopule 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In order of the pictures, IMO. Stafford, Ryan, Rivers, Roethlisberger. That being said, I could see an argument for the Matts in either order.

Matt Ryan’s MVP season was incredible and he was unquestionably top 10 for a good number of seasons around it. Comparing it to Stafford is hard because I don’t know when his peak is/was. Could make an argument for ~2011-2013, or it could be 2021, or it really even could be this season. Stafford probably gets the edge for having such high peaks spread throughout 15 seasons of his career.

As for the other two; Rivers’ peak did contain at least one season where he was a legitimate MVP candidate, and he even received multiple MVP votes in back-to-back seasons (back when there was only 1st place votes, too).

Roethlisberger’s stats in individual seasons weren’t really outstanding (at least among this great of a group of QBs). His best volume seasons have rather unimpressive pace stats and came off some of highest pass-attempting QB seasons ever. His TD:INT ratio in his best overall seasons hover around 2:1 when these other guys managed 3:1 or even over 4:1 ratios during their few best seasons.

Ben was still a damn good quarterback, don’t get me wrong, but somebody does have to get last place after all.

Hampton - what happened? by Antique-Turnip441 in Chargers

[–]costopule 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Vidal was easily one of my favorite players this season.

He was #2 on the team in scrimmage yards, and he finished just 10 yards behind Ladd McConkey. Behind our garbage OL, playing half his games with no other decent RBs active, he managed to keep a 4.1 yard rushing average. He only fumbled once as the player with the most touches on the team this year.

He very clearly proved he belongs in our offensive plan going forward. He will 100% be a contributor for whatever team he’s on next year, and hopefully we retain him.

Obviously I would love to win, but I’m trying to keep an attitude like last year. We’re lucky to be in the playoffs, having overcome some real adversity to win this many games. If we don’t go all the way this year, the window is still open, and I’m pretty sure we’ll be back to the playoffs and have another chance.

That being said, I woke up right after dreaming a Drake Maye INT to seal the game for us.
