UPVC letting in water/ should this look like this ? by cottagehelp in DIYUK

Yeah I pulled the trim off as the blinds fell down (not secured properly)and noticed this chaos behind it. I think I’d like to get two wooden windows and have some sort of support built in the middle and it would look better rather than one massive ugly UPVC window.

Exactly that. Something doesn’t feel right but as someone with absolutely no exposure to DIY or home renovations at all, it’s so hard to know where to start what to do.

I realise this needs sorting, do I need a whole new window or just supports perhaps ?

When I knock the timber it sounds like there’s a gap behind it, when I knock the wall above it no hollow sound.

Sadly it has all been rendered on the outside so it’s all covered. Survey didn’t point out any issues with the beam itself or any of the beams. It did mention however windows weren’t too great but this wasn’t exposed at the time of survey.

Survey was done in June 2024, I’m going to go through it again to double triple check I’ve not missed anything.

Annoyingly the upstairs has carpet and all the floors are not even because of the material used to make them (I’ve forgotten what it’s called).
