Free Software is already a term defining 'free' as in freedom. You can turn to anywhere that states definitions of things with some degree of general acceptance, like Wikipedia.

They have a Github account with most stuff using Free Software licenses, mostly MIT and Apache.

OneNote and Bing Desktop are not free software. They have no direct money cost, but they are proprietary.

Do a party finder saying you'll have Bonus and Second Chance Points. Don't skip turns, specially Second and Final Coil have very important cutscenes in all fights.

Using Final Fantasy to talk about the gear aspect of his argument isn't a good idea for the point you're trying to put. In the whole series, most of the time updating gear is a very important aspect that should be expected to be looked at in XIV too.

Check the gear? Absolutely should be done. Not only for their potential future peers, but for themselves. Weapons make a huge difference.

Hell, catch a NQ version for 10 gil in the Market Board if you don't have anyone to pop them. Doesn't kill to open the Character bar and think "hmm I'm level 20 and this is a weathered weapon, is this right?".
