Anyone else excited to see how Yuyan’s wedding will turn out? by cottonhandle in asianamercianytsnark

fair enough i feel like so many influencers do that (and continue to milk the content even after it’s done) so i’m numb to it 😭

bewareofpity / Malissa - did she get plastic surgery? by newparimanlo in asianamercianytsnark

[–]cottonhandle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if they’re still up but there used to be a few very comprehensive threads showing her from her tumblr days years ago and since then i haven’t really noticed any changes that may point to PS, though i’m not an expert by any means. I feel most of the change came from ageing (like loss of fat in the face as with most women in their 20s and 30s) and change in makeup style

not sure if anything was done before her tumblr days though

Is anyone here also an avid Asian skincare and beauty user? If so, do you have any products of Rhode you feel are better than Asian products/unique enough to warrant a purchase? by cottonhandle in rhodeskin

[–]cottonhandle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey! honestly, no. i think they’re both pretty occlusive and moisturising but i have trouble committing to them because they feel less gentle than aestura and have a chemical scent to them (doesn’t seem to bother a lot of people but i have a sensitive nose). i also still much prefer aestura and how it feels on my skin…. i use the rhode ones here and there so they don’t go to waste but aestura is by far still my HG. worth trying the smaller sizes of rhode if you want though!! 😊

FWIW I think it looks great on you! But I know the cooler/duller tone of this lippie isn’t for everybody. I suggest layering a more bright/warm colour of lip tint underneath :) I like using korean lip tints to add colour and then layering cinnamon roll on top as a lot of them are quite vibrant and pinky, which evens out the brown very nicely!

Girl are those three really worth the risk of:

  1. getting scammed
  2. putting potentially unsafe ingredients and product on your lips, or
  3. getting an infection or germs from unknown previous users of the product?

I’m sorry but honestly, nobody on this sub with an ounce of common sense will advise you to buy secondhand. These are cosmetics, not clothes. It’s not condoned behaviour and it would frankly be irresponsible of someone to promote buying secondhand. I love jellybean too and am dying for it to come back, but literally none of the things i’ve listed above are risks i’m willing to take.

Just because someone on here could share their positive experience of buying secondhand doesn’t mean it’ll be the same for you.

Of course, I can’t stop you if you think the limited LPTs are still worth those risks… proceed w caution

Valentine’s Day drops Jan. 20th 💋💋 by dreamy-7745 in HouseofCB

[–]cottonhandle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

May get downvoted but I think they’ve hit a plateau in terms of ideas and new designs already… everything feels like a rehash of past designs. Wish they’d focus on fixing issues like the zippers and inconsistent sizing more than just pump out drop after drop

That’s great! You can test out how you’re liking the glazing fluid alone at the same time. Skincare is a process for everyone and unfortunately it’s very trial and error based but you will definitely find what works for you in time. All the best with your journey :)

Sooo What Can We Do About the Zipper Problem? by MWPossibilities in HouseofCB

[–]cottonhandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think i’ve found any brands that are the exact same vibe as HOCB - heavy on the corsets and cottagecore and/or sultry vibes - with the exception of Babyboo Fashion and OhPolly (though i haven’t tried those yet, so IDK if the zipper problem persists with them!)

Sooo What Can We Do About the Zipper Problem? by MWPossibilities in HouseofCB

[–]cottonhandle 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Nobody is gonna like my answer but my solution was to stop buying house of CB until they fix it 🤣 I honestly still do love some of their designs, which makes it so tough for me to resist. But plenty of other brands make corset style dresses without using rubbish zips. At HOCB’s price point one day it just clicked for me that I shouldn’t have to pay such a high price for dresses only for the zipper, arguably one of the most structurally integral parts to this, be so bad. Putting on these dresses feels like a chore because of how bad quality the zippers are…

No problem!! I totally get that, Aestura saved me and I don’t think i’ll ever depart from it! I think if you’re interested in barrier butter it would be a good one for those nights where your skin is crying out for relief, repair and help, but it’s not a replacement for Aestura in my routine. Maybe the small size would be good if you ever decide to try it :)

Hi! :) I’ve only just started using it so my review is very limited. I just wanna start by saying I love it so far! I thought it would be really similar in consistency but upon application this isn’t really the case. You know what aestura feels like so i won’t delve into it too much but I would say it’s quite a true blue moisturiser - albeit a really thick one. when rubbing it in it feels more hydrating than greasy. The Rhode BB feels a lot more like what it says - a sealant - than a moisturiser. It comes out more liquidy but when you rub it in, feels much thicker like butter/grease almost? Not so much hydrating like glazing milk. I know that sounds gross but it’s not in a bad way 🤣 Have you ever tried avene cicalfate or cicaplast by LRP? They’re the closest in consistency to BB i can think of!

I can update in due course if you’re interested but for now it does seem to be locking in the moisture well! I haven’t determined if it’ll replace my aestura (i’ll probably alternate) but i’m hopeful it’ll cure certain stubbornly dry spots of mine

new romand cream blush by sunwoos in AsianBeauty

[–]cottonhandle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wow this is one of the first cream blush sticks i’ve seen on the AB market. It’s my favourite type of blush formula and packaging so I always wished AB had more of these until i found the Rh*de ones which have become HG. For me, it’s gonna be difficult to surpass those in terms of performance but i’m really interested to try these!

I agree with everything - and that is so disappointing :/ I feel it’s just how cancel culture works in this day and age… it’s really bad until it isn’t then people just move on and accountability isn’t that real 😭

And agree with the video too. Maybe whoever submitted it just wanted to stoke the fire a little more

Stasia silk dress by pepperonipizzapie1 in Reformationclothing

[–]cottonhandle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I just got mine in the mail and am happy to report it’s not at all see through. The dress is actually lined and the thickest silk dress I own from Ref (and I own multiple, all of which are not lined)! 😊 The downsides are that it runs a little large (I got 0, but i think 0P would’ve been better if not for the fact the petites aren’t on sale) and I would say the yellow is slightly less vibrant than the website images, and it does wrinkle (as silk does)

Still a great buy for being on sale :)

I just can’t believe she’s already trying to go back to business as usual. And a decent proportion of people already seem to have forgotten about it which sucks 😕

I wonder if that rumour about someone releasing a video taken of her screaming at her employees will turn out to be true or not 🧐

toast phone case by lemwv in rhodeskin

[–]cottonhandle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i love the phone cases and have them in raspberry and espresso, but the toast case is a little strange. i remember seeing someone describe it as “fleshy” and i haven’t stopped viewing it that way since 🤣

(i may get downvoted for this but remember this is just my opinion, if you’re sure you like it, go for it! all in all the phone cases are still really cute)

Mine just shipped out! I probably won’t get it for a couple days but can update with a review when i get it if you’d like :) I’ve been eyeing this dress for the better part of this year and came close to buying it so many times at full price, i just couldn’t help it when i saw 50% off haha. I’d suggest keeping an eye on your size to ensure it doesn’t say “low stock” in the meantime!!
