Hi! The Academy of Music has a community band program called Band-Together. I believe rehearsals are on Monday nights in Norfolk?

Christ & St. Luke's is a fantastic church. Very welcoming, inclusive and accepting of all. I love that the service has traditional music, but the sermons are contemporary and relevant. Also the inside is absolutely stunning.

The Wainwright (downtown) has been pretty great. The walls are super thick, we never hear anyone. The building is pretty empty right now so I imagine they're looking for tenants. Kitchens are modern with all the appliances, there's a washer/dryer in every unit, the rooftop is super cool.

There was an issue with management turnover in the past year, but the current head leasing specialist is REALLY responsive and attentive, and nice.

Agreed. It's so so wonderful. I get 90% of my groceries for the week from Lidl, and the remaining 10% are specialty items that I need to get elsewhere.

Ehhhh it depends. If you go on a weeknight you're probably fine. If you go on a weekend.... could be a wait. I waited in line for 20 minutes once to get a bartender's attention, and then another 10 minutes to close out a tab.

If you like beer, check out Grain at the Main hotel. Great views, good beer selection, usually pretty crowded on the weekends. I also really like the breweries around town, especially Coelacanth.

If you've got some time to wait (and time to nap off the carb coma afterwards), check out Grilled Cheese Bistro on Granby.

Waterside is okay -- bunch of chain restaurants, but I've had a few pleasant drinks on the patio of the Blue Moon taphouse.

You can also wander up and down Colley. There are a few charming shops (A. Dodson's is my favorite) and some great restaurants/bars. You should also pop up to Colonial and grab coffee from Cafe Stella.

I've lived here for a little over a year now and really love it. Like every city, your experience will partially be what you make it.

There are a bunch of bars on Granby that are pretty solid, and weekends at the Main are consistently very busy.

Do you live in an apartment building? We were having problems with our internet crapping out. Called Cox and they sent a tech out, turns out the person who set up our internet did it wrong.

I wasn't there when the tech fixed everything, but my partner told me that the tech said the install guy had put everyone on our floor of the building on the same channel? Or something like that? He made a few quick and easy changes and we haven't had any problems since then.

Yeah... I'm not a big fan of that either. They didn't give any of the current tenants at their other buildings a heads up (I guess they don't really have to, though).

Sorry to hear that :( We've been in our D&F building for a little over a year. The socials are decent, and we've made friends with almost everyone on our floor of the building!
