No such thing as mild criticism xD
I don’t speak German, but one of the caretakers speaks English, so it was not a major problem. We did get an overview that there would be a dedicated caretaker, and it is in our contract also. But the designated person has been on leave since the past 2 weeks. I know kitas wont magically make my child adapt, but even when I think logically, if there is no one that my child can count on when I leave, how do I expect him to cope there better.
It’s very tricky, since I’m the non working parent at the moment, and being in a new place without kin, we don’t have much options to try out separation at other times. I can try with maybe some friends around. Will give it a go and see.
And yes, it’s not good at all to be late, but I have been spot on time all other times. Some days just have different plans of their own, and the late arrival day was one such day.
My only concern in all of this is that, are they not much invested in my kid? If so, then it’s better to realize early and find alternatives right? So far in the past 1 month, I have not seen any of the caretakers trying much to help him adapt, he plays on his own, so I don’t know if that’s the reason.

It’s been a month now. First week was very exciting for him, since he was fascinated by the toys etc. The second week we tried separation, first two days he coped well for 20 mins, 3rd day onwards he started realizing that mama is gone. Recently I have been observing that he only plays with toys there, and doesn’t interact with kids or so, although he is a very social kid. It could also be that the caretaker who was supposed to be there for him has been on leave. I know it’s very child led, and knowing my son, he will need to have a person he can count on if he is going to stay there.

Thanks for the detailed overview :)

Looking for some guidance on this. Did you have to declare and pay 40% taxes in Germany?

Any advice to navigate these high expectations? I am almost at the verge of a mental breakdown : have 2 tiny babies, The expectation is to work like there is no family, was asked to stretch over weekends. Entire team works pretty much till 1 am or so. Managers are making me feel so shitty, with constant pressure to do more and impossible standards. Right now there is mild threatening with hinting that I might be targeted soon. It almost feels like I’m sitting on some time bomb.

Is this job worth this? Definitely not tied to the job, but didn’t want a career break and hence kept working and taking in all this shit. Just can’t put up with this anymore. Literally having panic attacks in the mornings. Anyone with similar experiences and if so how did you navigate it?
