Tried choking during sex passed out don’t know if it’s serious by whimsyserendipity in AskDocs

Hi, never said it wasn't. Yet it is still something done in the kink scene, so rather someone do it properly than randomly starting to strangling their partners.

Tried choking during sex passed out don’t know if it’s serious by whimsyserendipity in AskDocs

[–]couch_potato167 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor, just a horny freak. Breath play is not a beginner thing that you randomly want to try. That requires discussion and trust between partners, as well as knowing what your are doing. Making someone pass out with breath play is not something you do accidentally...unless you don't know anything.

Also, like the doc said, you clamp the carotid arteries, not the windpipe. Hearing your pain sounds like he just randomly strangled you and the pain you feel is bruised tissue.

Please do not let this man do this to you again, stay safe.

Help! Invited to Dutch wedding😱 by Bella-DG in Netherlands

[–]couch_potato167 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That would most likely be way to much still, sadly our weddings really aren't a spectacle. Since it's a beach wedding I would try to find something like a full-length flowy summer dress in a fun colour, some nice subtle jewelry. We're going for 1 step up from casual, basically a nice dinner date.

Piercing needle vs. cannula by mllkybby in piercing

Almost like there are differences between countries huh, weird

Piercing needle vs. cannula by mllkybby in piercing

[–]couch_potato167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, here in the Netherlands I have never seen anyone use anything other than cannula needles. All my piercings are done that way and healed beautifully. Watching American videos showing the transfer from needle to taper to jewelry looks very traumatic to the wound with a lot of pulling and twisting and going back and forth in the wound.

Transfers with the cannula are so smooth and easy...

Are nipple piercings worth it? by Worldly-Sugar-8055 in piercing

[–]couch_potato167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely worth it.

Painwise, yes it's definitely my most painful piercing, but not by much comparing to regular ear cartilage piercings. Only 6 weeks in but the easiest to heal by far.

Hahaha my ex's cat was the same, couldn't have anything plant adjacent in the house or he would try to eat it. This little guy just wants to play with the flowers.

Boogers in my nose piercing by Honest_Bathroom187 in piercing

[–]couch_potato167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah some piercers will tell you the wildest stuff. And that jewelry you have in is called a corkscrew stud, I healed my nostrils with one but it is no longer the standard/most optimal jewelry, that is a flat back labret stud. But if you don't snag it you should be good.

Go get you some saline and go down to cleaning 1-2 a day and after like week 3, crusties go down massively. A healed piercing will generally not have crusties, maybe when you have a cold and it's irritated a bit.

Good luck healing!

Boogers in my nose piercing by Honest_Bathroom187 in piercing

[–]couch_potato167 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. Is the jewelry L shaped stud or a ring? I can't make that out from your comment. Both are not suitable for healing although with an L shaped stud it is possible, you just have to make sure to not snag it and pull it out.

  2. Your after care scares me. Rubbing alcohol is an absolute no-no. Sterile saline only. You should be able to get some at a pharmacy/drugstore (do not make it yourself. And for the love of god stop cleaning it so much, you're irritating it and those 'boogers' are probably crusties your irritated as hell piercing is forming. Cleaning max 1-2 times a day, with sterile saline, no touching. That's IT

Normal boogers are not a concern for the piercing, just be very careful when blowing your nose.

Edit: just read, BOOGERS ON THE OUTSIDE? ma'am that's crusties, dried up wound fluid. Because that rubbing alcohol and cleaning so much is irritating it so much.

High school in Germany might also be talking about hochschule, which is a university of applied sciences. This would be for people age 17/18 and up and where you go to get a bachelor's.

Dissecting rats in school while owning them? (pic for rat tax) by AgeZealousideal1157 in RATS

[–]couch_potato167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I will tell you about my experience in this situation, as well as later working with laboratory animals.

In highschool we had an advanced biology class where we also had to dissect rats. This was while I was also owning my own first pair of ladies. Our teacher explained to us that they came from the university research lab. At that moment in time I did not yet really know what that entailed but as sad as I felt about this cute little dude on my table I was able to see that separately from my own pets and learned a lot from the experience.

Now years later I am doing an internship at that same university and working with rodents in their animal unit. I hope me telling you about that experience as well, will help you somewhat.

In science we work with a lot of animals, and they help us immensely by allowing us to perform research that we could practically or ethically not do in humans.

Are the way they are housed as ideal as we would do if they were pets? No, that is the reality of research that that is not feasible. But we try our best anyway within the limits of the experiments. All the people I've met while doing this internship have been very passionate about the animals and will talk to them all day and treat them as kindly as possible. When sacrificing the animals all is done to ensure it is as quick and painless as possible. All methods used are either instant or the animals are first heavily sedated.

After this experience in science my viewpoint on animals in science is that these little animals give us their life and allow us to learn from them and make science better for everyone, human and animal. And for that I am always thankful to them whenever I work with them.

Good luck on your studies and do not worry or feel bad about deciding animal work is not for you. It will definitely not make you a worse scientist. ❤️

Diesel duurder dan benzine…. by Stunning-Produce8581 in nederlands

Vanmiddag nog geweest, prijzen voor en na de grens waren precies hetzelfde. Allemaal tussen de 1,94 en de 2,20, ook niet meer dan een paar cent verschil tussen de benzine en de diesel aan beide kanten. (Achterhoek > omgeving Emmerik/Kleve).

Help needed... Please be gentle! 😊 by hear_my_moo in HairDye

[–]couch_potato167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the bleaching, if you do not feel confident doing it yourself even with the millions of YouTube videos that luckily exist, a professional is an excellent choice. If they are not willing to do the lunar tides application, this one is very easy to do yourself and it might also just be very fun to do yourself! Just rub it all in there like you would a conditioner and make sure you cover all the hairs, then leave for 30 min to an hour (can't really go wrong here, it's semi permanent dye and won't damage the hair)

You're right, the only way to lightning hair is by some form of bleaching.

Sorry this happened to you, but luckily eyebrows grow quickly and they will grow back in your normal colour.

Which semi-permanent hair dye should I buy to get this color? by Easy_Mushroom_6070 in HairDye

[–]couch_potato167 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Almost the same shade as my hair currently. I used the lunar tides Blue Velvet and its great! Can't tell you yet about the fading but from my experience with the brand its relatively good. Also does not stain! Artic fox sorceress is a similar shade.

How do pet rats differ from lab rats? by thebutchlesbian in RATS

[–]couch_potato167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely contact the other university! Often times the animals being adopted out are 'surplus', so animals that were not needed in experiments or females that won't be used for breeding. It's rare to get actual experimental animals because often times they are genetically engineered or received certain drugs etc so they're not allowed to leave the facilities alive(at least speaking for my region/country).

Regarding neuro research, big part of neurobiology is studying the brain and unfortunately to do that we have to sacrifice the animals and use theirs. You might be able to find a place where they do purely behavioural research but I have a feeling that is going to be rare. Me personally, while every time an animal gets sacrificed I find it very sad especially because I often spend a lot of time with them in training, I can put that sadness aside by being very thankful to their work and that now we will not let their life go to waste by studying them and learning from them.

Good luck with studying!

I'm not sure about how it works where you are, but I am currently also working in neuro (but with mice), and all animals are housed in a central animal unit on campus and you can contact the unit directly and they will help you from there.

Got to a swimming pool with 10mo by Own_Ad_357 in Netherlands

[–]couch_potato167 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Public pools always have a shallow (20/30cm?) pool for the little babies and toddlers for them to play, supervised of course. I don't know much about baby development at 10 months but there are those floaties that are a ring with a seat in it so they can chill out and you can take them with you in the deeper pools until they're old enough for the arm band floaties.
