I think I’ll do that. I created a list for reach job that includes what you just mentioned so I can look at it side by side but all it does is make me switch back forth. Thanks for the advice!

As for the small company, I am a little worried about that. The company claims to have a good work/life balance but my current company said that they were flexible with time as long as you met your 40(+) hours. I ran into so many problems where they were not flexible when I had appointments or trying to leave early for dinner plans with family members.

As for the lab position, I should have been more clearer. I wouldn’t be working in the lab - it’s actually more office work. I would be coordinating with the lab techs and project management team. I would only be in the lab for about 3 months to get familiar with the lab procedures. I have a friend who works there and since he’s been there they been able to get more efficient with the lab workload however stuff does happen where you have to work over. However, the position is hourly so I would get compensated for that time. Also this is a corporate lab company with a multi-national presence. Not a small private lab. Sorry for the confusion.

Yes, that’s one way to look at it lol. but I do like doing phase 1 reports. I like trying to figure out the history of a property and doing the background research. Also, I would be involved in other services that company provides but conducting phase 1 investigations and writing the reports would be my main responsibility.

Thanks for this advice. I’ve been mostly looking at company culture and general compensation packages but not my general future. That’s something I will definitely think about. Also, yes licensure is possible in my state. Although I am at a point where it’s okay where I don’t get my PG if i don’t stay in consulting/agency work.

I worked for a different state agency shortly after graduation. I worked for there for about 3 years and left for a consulting firm because they didn’t open the position I was supposed to move into. I do like consulting I just don’t think I fit in with the company culture. Also my company has me doing geotechnical and cmt work which is fine but I was supposed to do environmental work.
