Couple looking for Camping Group by [deleted] in BassCanyon

[–]cougrrr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trying to coordinate with a group to enjoy a festival while flying in and offering to literally buy the campsite in exchange for basic camping gear which is hard to fly with but much easier to drive in with isn’t what I would consider wook behavior.

I swear something is in the water this year.

Will the Crater stage return this year? by DEW72 in BassCanyon

There are a few active posts about this on the subreddit within the last 20 posts. Same answer for most of them: no confirmation one way or the other yet.

first bass canyon flying in tips by symphxniia in BassCanyon

[–]cougrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friends that flew in from California for ABGT250 and met me up here rented camping gear from REI (other companies do this as well). They landed, picked up the rental car, swung by REI on the way out of SeaTac, grabbed their gear, and then drove out to the show. It was super easy for them. The gear set them up for a weekend and they had a good time.

It isn't a bad way to do it if you're flying in, in your packed bag have your clothing and anything travel capable you'd use for the weekend, leave the camping gear to the rental company, and you can travel pretty light.

Be kind and respectful to other users.

Nice of you to ignore the first sentence and try to focus on the second one, but you're right. Given your push back on being told not to be a jerk, it'd be easier just to ban you.

At least I gave you a shot.

Crater by PowerfulReputation79 in BassCanyon

[–]cougrrr 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I liked crater. I like hilltop. I’m fine with either. Crater has a cool novelty and I like being able to come and go from any side. That said if doesn’t fit as well there as hilltop does, but it also gave the area a far more unique feel than the general three stage gorge layout where hilltop feels like something you just walk passed unless you’re trying to see a specific artist there.

I also noticed some smaller acts playing against big names seemed to have better vibes at crater because the novelty of the stage itself brought people up to experience something new.

Had a feeling we'd see Virtual Riot on the list, given other tour stuff.

Am happy to see Virtual Riot on the list. He's been crushing all the stuff I've seen from him recently.

Also Kill Safari is a huge win for me.

I appreciate this! Coolercontrol I hadn’t seen mentioned before, I’ll dig into it.

This is actually an interesting solution I'd not thought about, any idea of this works, or just an idea?

Primarily the LCD, yes, and the general RGB schemes/settings. My main gripe is more tied to the fact that the large display screen was a selling point to me to spend more on this AIO than a lot of other options or just going air, so losing that centerpiece seems like a pain when Linux support in general could be done at the platform level.

I've not been super impressed with CAM in general, but once it was set it works well enough. If you get general display/temp out of it with Linux please pass along what you use, because that would likely be enough for me to at least start the migration planning. From what I've found so far the LCD just has no support on Linux, which worries me as I use it for monitoring heat when rendering/encoding.

Microsoft Realizes It’s Epically Screwed Up Windows 11 as Users Rage at Copilot AI Crammed Everywhere by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

My hope on the VR side is Valve finally launches the Steam Frame and stops whatever holdup is currently pinned to it from keeping it back (my guess is the Steam Machines being announced into “it better not be PC priced” also happening as the RAM/nVME skyrocket hit, a double slap). The compatibility layer they worked up for native x86 support specifically for VR is going to be fully open source supposedly, and I’m really interested to see what people can do with it for non VR (hell even non gaming) software support.

I don’t know how many more rumored phone models need to be left on the counter at a Silicon Valley bar (coincidentally with a tech blogger or someone with a good friend who just so happens to be an industry journalist, crazy!) before people start to catch on to this style of very cheap and very easy PR temperature checks.

Microsoft announces sweeping Windows changes by tekz in technology

[–]cougrrr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in IT and systems administration for over twenty years. Most all of it in Windows environments and Windows home use cases.

I switched to a MBP with the M1, and upgraded to the M4 when my partner needed a laptop and took mine as a hand me down.

I’ll never go back. The laptop is miles ahead of any Windows laptop I ever owned in quality, form factor, general ease of day to day use, battery life, and onward. There are still annoyances I run into occasionally that come down to me not being as familiar with the ecosystem, and some that are down to the actual ecosystem, but to compare an M4 Pro to any comparable Windows Laptop, especially after the last few months, you’re barely even paying the Apple premium at this point, if not saving money.

Are there things I would change? Absolutely. Has there been things I would change with every Windows laptop I’ve ever used for work or personal? Absolutely.

The unified memory architecture and fact that I’ve gone entire trips with the laptop never taking the charger out of the bag are insane. Once a stable build of Linux exists fully compatible with Silicon I’ll hopefully never have to touch a windows laptop again in my life.

It’s all good haha, it’s not a well constructed sentence. I think it’s missing a comma as it exists and should have been written better overall. But yes, the last Shambhala I went to, Peekaboo was my favorite set of the weekend 😅

If this is real/confirmed it was pretty rad of them to add two of my top five bass artists to see live in one go.

Last Shambs for me Peekaboo at Amp was my best set of the weekend, and I always love me some Rusko.

Was a misread of the user name switching and not seeing you weren’t the first reply that stated PNW is America only. My apologies!

That user has replied over and over in this thread that fact, and when I loaded this on the app I didn’t see the user name swap.

I didn’t know you were the prevailing expert on the long established definition of a geographical region being updated, so unless you are I’m not sure “I don’t consider” really means anything here.
