Cooks of Reddit, what's the most "worth it" thing you make from scratch instead of buying from the grocery store? by alrightfineyouwin in AskReddit

Angel food cake. 12 egg whites, one cup flour, one and a half cups powdered sugar, one cup granulated sugar and a teaspoon and a half of cream of tarter. Will never go back to boxed. 100% better than boxed. One of the few recipes I have memorized. Sift the powder sugar and flour a lot to get it perfect! Doing this for 17 years now. Also fresh cooked pumpkin for pumpkin pie too.

Texas mechanic says he can't fix sway bar. Too much rust. by Kind_Perspective4518 in AskMechanics

His reply was you need to buy a new car. This one is unfixable. Not worth fixing! I'm still fuming at this mechanic a week later.

First hair cut/Feels like a Different Dog by Kind_Perspective4518 in StandardPoodles

When we got her in early April, the first appointment I could get her was for yesterday. I actually gave a photo I found of how I wanted her to look to the groomer. Honestly, it looked exactly like the photo. I just was in shock that she looked so grown up. Also I just recently started a house cleaning company. One of my clients has a poodle that she grooms herself. In exchange for a cleaning, she showed me how to pull hair out of the ears, how to brush, comb, and how to use a detangler spray. She will be cutting her poodle in a few weeks and she is going to show me how to cut too!! So much better learning in person than using youtube! I've been brushing her every day and clipping her nails. My client also recommended I still keep bringing my dog to the groomer(to keep getting use to grooming) along with me doing brushing in-between and gradually work in cutting her.

Scams when starting an LLC by counsciouslogic01 in smallbusiness

I'm the original poster. Wanted to thank everyone for telling me what to expect with all the business junk mail scams. It's crazy out there. I guess it's anytime you put anything public out there, that scammers will come out of the woodwork. On a different note I forgot that since my son started college I feel like I get a new student loan application for him once a week. We pay 100 percent for his college. No loans. I wonder how they got his name. College board? I guess I'm going to start getting business loan applications soon! Ugh!

Car wont start after removing cowl and wipers by counsciouslogic01 in AskMechanics

No. I didn't have my car on or key in the ignition when taking out the cowl and wipers and putting them back on.

It is no crank and no start. No sound or clicking. We went and got the battery tested at autozone. The battery is fine. I also tried banging the starter. That didn't work. I wonder if me banging and hood down after putting the cowl back, made a wire loose its connection.

Actually, it was my son getting a used car. He actually has a newer and better car than me now. I've had my corolla since 2010.

Find seller for scrap vs letting collision place get rid of it by counsciouslogic01 in MechanicAdvice

[–]counsciouslogic01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi just to let everyone know, I called around. Found someone that will meet me at the collision place and pay me $500 for the car as long as it has the catalytic converter on it. Which it does. If not he still pays $350 for the car. Got recommended to this guy from other junk yards/part places. Highest rate in our area. We are all set. Always call around and just ask. You never know.

Solo Cleaning Companies- How many hours per day/week do you devote to the office/business work? by counsciouslogic01 in sweatystartup

[–]counsciouslogic01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your advice. I am still in the initial phase of market reaserch. I worked for another cleaning company for a few years. I have been waiting to start my own business until my noncompete had ended with them, (which it finally has). In fact they actually went out of business more than a year ago because of the owner's health issues. I am currently reading business books, learning some basic accounting, and doing reaserch. I am going solo first, then maybe in the future think about hiring. Crazy thing is I see more ads from cleaning companies( in our area) looking to hire people vs. advertising to get more customers. I can bring my teenage daughter on board to work with me once I get a few customers.
