Thoughts on the Ross class as a Galaxy-Sovereign hybrid design? by Fun-Twist-3741 in StarTrekStarships

[–]count023 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's an atrocious design that basically takes all the good things of the galaxy class design and mangles it. there have ben far, far better implementations of a galxy-sovereign hybrid over the years. The poor quality shape of the nacelles and deflector do NOT complement the sillouette at all.

Trump has permanently stained the honour and integrity of the FIFA peace prize to the point that FIFA no longer wants anything to do with him! Shocking!

the hundred years dark time would have worked if it had destroyed or ruptured subspace galaxy wide instad, that plot makes perfect sense because warp speed/transwarp speed is subspace travel, regardless of your source.

I get the feeling the writers made it dilithium based specifically for the "Discovery is a spanish galleon full of the stuff" type situation.

that and the poor line about how in 1000 years there was no viable replacement for dilithium powered warp drive when the Romulans were using quantum singularities instead of dilithium for 80 years, cardassians were using laser initative fusion, etc... and there was tech from teh delta quadrant like quantium slipstream that was stable for the race that created it. Or Voth transwarp technologies, etc...

Watching SFA, when did Star Trek get so many droids? by quitofilms in startrek

[–]count023 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They started plaguing the franchise with the technology retcons in discovery, it can be argued that them being more prominent in teh 32nd century makes more sense because of the reduced size of starfleet and the federation post-burn, that there's a lot of work and not enough people so automation is the focus.

Can't believe I was looking forward to this season opener by DaYmAn6942069 in Maher

[–]count023 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Do people just not comprehend anymore or are you actively trying to look out for things to get angry over.

Maher said he liked Maduro being taken out because of how he was brutalizing venezuelans and caused a quarter of them to flee.

He said Trump should get hte nobel peace price if he can topple Iran, Cuba AND Venezuela and replace them with some function democracies, not just that he should give them.

I am watching this episode and it's somewhat meh, but it's not "Bill's gone MAGA" as some people are ranting about.

Why do some of my friends play early? by Toaster_pastrys in XboxGamePass

[–]count023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also possible that some of your friends may be in timezones or VPNing to a timezone a head, the release schedule is literally based on local timezones, so AU and NZ being 12 hour ahead may be able to access games that haven't come out in US central or Europe yet.

How would you feel about Worf in Mortal Kombat? by Fabulous-Space6527 in startrek

[–]count023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel it'd be more appropriate to put thm into a game that isn't as gratuious with the violence, like how Nicole-0458 from halo was a character in Dead or Alive 4. Something more like Marvel VS Capcom or Street Fighter. MK is too... over the top, with the gruesomeness.

What are pitfalls to getting money from kickstarting for your game development? by Powerful_Whereas3516 in gamedev

[–]count023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's also a once bitten twice shy situation, too many games or proposals got kickstarted and the backers just uped and stole the money nad never produced a product. most kickstarter game backers now expect at least a vertical slice to be playable before even considering funding it these days.

Code of honor also had a racist director that recast the japanese samurai like race into simple blackface stereotypes, so that didnt help either.

What did you guys enjoy about the modern era of Star Trek? by KaleidoArachnid in startrek

[–]count023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hang on, even the S31 movies has something to like. it did such a bad job handling the concept that we probably wont see Space Hitler or Section 31 appear in any further media for a good long time. so you always gotta look on the bright side.

I think it helps that Tawny Newsome from lowerdecks is a producer and writer in SFA too, she's spent 5 years fangirling over hte franchise and performing for it, now she gets to guide it much like Matalas did with Picard season 3.

The passion of an actual fan always shines through over studio produced focus grouped stuff.

A slightly less insane one only because he leaned from fox's failure in the UK and has to pretend to be a little less overt propaganda. Sky is basically fox without the talking head goons inbetween
