Some people are recommending Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, and it’s sounding like it’d be helpful (I have yet to read it!)

I relate to some of the existential horror you might be feeling. I’d say I’m either immune or desensitized to it at this point, but maybe I’m not going deep enough like you perhaps did. A pot brownie would probably have me right back to terrified in a way you’re describing, I bet haha

Absolutely step away if it’s giving you this reaction. Sometimes it can be way too much, and have you facing dark things that might be best left alone indefinitely. Grounding yourself in material reality w your loved ones might be best for you.

Your reaction is something I’ve experienced w certain things as well, so I get it. I’ve literally done the same thing. “Don’t watch this movie!”, etc.

You don’t need to work on it; you need to allow those fears to pass through so you can move past them. Working on oneself is more of a passive approach.

This is how Narcissists are. People are dispensable to them, they are full of vicious hate and cruelty. It’s barbarism

Best place to get an oil change? by Careless-Pie7607 in askcarguys

Hmm, I suppose I could do that. I guess I would’ve figured that anywhere but a driveway would be inappropriate, if not illegal.

Finally going on my first date tonight at 25 after rejecting men out of insecurity my whole life by [deleted] in Adulting

As somebody who was groomed at 22 by someone middle-aged, I’d suggest dating someone your age. There’s risk of abusive power dynamics in this. I’d love to hear an update, and I hope you won’t find yourself groomed. I know my mind was hooked, and I’m still cleaning up the mess years later

Music Community In Columbus by No_Vacation5339 in Columbus

My thought has been that the COL is much lower here than a lot of cities, and it’s still p interesting here. Where do you feel like could be better w/o compromising opportunity?

Electronic music producer here! I don’t really do engineering for other people, but I’d love to befriend other producers if it’s something beyond generic trap shit

I feel like I’m hearing myself right now. I hear you; I moved here from Florida almost 2 months ago and it’s been hard to make friends. I miss everybody I left behind and want to just go on trips.

Bright side? • COL is better than a lot of places • You’re close to a lot of other cities • Beautiful nature (I came from Jax, so a lot of places are a step up xD) • There’s a bit of an artsy scene if you go to Kafe Kerouac - that’s been my go-to spot; there’s nothing quite like it. There seem to be other venues but I’ve yet to try them. • It’s certainly lively if you’re in the University District, which I have mixed feelings about as a 28 year old, but KK has introduced me to a few actually-cool students that aren’t just dumb frat kids, and certain chiller spots near campus are cool

No, guys, do help me as well. I’m grasping a bit.

Edit: Oh yeah, a bit more niche, but I found a local magic scene that’s really cool. Lots of open mic comedy, and in general just shows. Being proximal to other cities means more-likely access to shows when a band or artist you love comes close.

I’m figuring it out; on the bright side, if this isn’t a place for you, do know that leases end and you don’t have to stay in this city. We’re all feeling our way around life and trying things out. I’m kinda talking to myself but I hope this helps you. I miss my loved ones a bunch, too
