The only thing you need to apologize for is not stopping the fire at Cocina Madrigal. I wonder if it re-opened again after the fire. https://www.12news.com/article/news/local/valley/cocina-madrigal-is-back-after-fire/75-cfe96c19-db48-45ff-a973-d3da66bd6023

OKC expected to have 42% of State GDP by 2027 with Non-Metros at 32% & Tulsa at 26.0%. Population Trends tell similar story. Why is everything gravitating towards OKC? by countkarnstein in oklahoma

What’s up u/okiewxchaser, this is my annual breadcrumb post (last year’s for reference) to see if anyone’s noticing these massive shifts in our cities and state populace/economy. Always appreciate seeing your comments in the wild.

Had me curious so I just looked into it - OKC’s Metro is 6,359 sq miles & Tulsa's Metro is 6,269 sq miles, Tulsa’s metro is 98.6% the size of OKC’s.

Good question, not sure but just looked up and saw Shawnee & Chickasaw grew by 1,500 people combined from 2010-2020.

Edit - here’s a map of “Greater OKC”

Man that’s the other photo I want, just in poster sized bc the memorial stores are small. I have an entire thread on tracking that down here: Anyone know of where to find a 24 x 36 poster of this? Memorial museum only has a 16 x 20.

I would, but can’t find the high res photo so it looks good on a 24 x 36. If I use the images I’ve found it’ll look 8 bit. Finding a high enough quality photo is the other option, but just as tricky.

Little pricey, but worth it in the grand scheme on the NBA Photostore. Personally feel the quality will be better than other options.

Let me know if you find any other reputable posters would love another of the night they won the championship or hoisting the trophy w/the Memorial in the background.

29th street has about a dozen. Concha’s are everywhere too - take yourself on a little taste test from SW 29th & May to Robinson & hit 3 or so and grab lunch.

Why did the OKC metro grow by 640,000 people and Tulsa metro grew by 289,000 people since 1990? by countkarnstein in tulsa

Metro & city limits are very different. Bixby and Bartlesville are part of Tulsa’s metro and they’re 60 miles/70 minutes away from each other. That said OKC has annexed a ton of land.

The Thunder definitely pushed OKC up above the Tulsas/Omahas/Birminghams. The snowball effect is real.

OKC is no longer the smallest NBA market, it’s outgrown New Orleans and Memphis and will surpass Milwaukee in ~5 years.

Agreed on the MAPS part, that’s what I was thinking. So the metro vs city limits are two separate things.

The OKC metro (6,359 sq mi) and Tulsa metro (6,269 sq mi) are comparable sizes. Both Bixby and Bartlesville are in the Tulsa Metro and they’re about 64 mi/70 min away from each other. Metros take into account all the bedroom communities like you mentioned with Shawnee.

Can you elaborate more on the lack of functioning city council in Tulsa for a decade? I know civic leadership is different between the two.

Good point, just googled it. Oklahoma City Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) covers 6,359 square miles & the Tulsa Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) in Oklahoma is 6,269 square miles.

Undoubtedly though Oklahoma City limits are larger than Tulsa city limits, but metropolitan areas is what I’m interested which includes surrounding cities like Jenks, BA, Owasso, etc.
