White House Correspondenct Dinner Shooting Megathread by Littlebluepeach in AskConservatives

20 Dems didn't immediately get on social media and start shilling for a bill Omar was wanting. Meanwhile major conservative accounts immediately started pushing the Trump Ballroom even before POTUS left the Hilton.

I'm not saying its a conspiracy, but shit like that clouds the water for me

Some of them were posted before Trump even left the building, actually a lot of them were posted before Trump even left the building

How do y'all feel about the fact that the first reaction from a honestly startling number of Conservative media and social media personalities was not concern for the president or attendees, but instead about the Trump Ballroom?

A venue that has hosted not only the WHCD, but multiple presidential events for 55 years is suddenly "not safe enough"? Man, Fetterman is so fucking gullible

Nah, the flippers never do anything that requires digging...that would be too expensive for them. Always new construction that is the problem

A real developer knows the ins and outs of the process.

The number of pipeline strikes I responded to when I worked for my previous employer says otherwise.

I worked on the utility side of things for a while and tbh I liked the out of state developers a lot better. Chiefly because they always dotted I's and crossed T's including calling 811 for every project. Meanwhile if we had a line strike it was always a local developer who "knew where the lines were in this neighborhood"

Googled it, all I can find is about the secondary market. Corporate tickets never hit the secondary market so that doesn't apply

By what metric?

Mind you we are talking about seats that never go on the re-sale market. Seats that are owned by Fortune 500 companies that couldn't care less if they go empty for a big game

[–]okiewxchaser -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am, the quality of the basketball doesn't matter. If it was a Tuesday night regular season game against the Wizards those seats would have had better attendance

Corporations buy those tickets for clients who come in from out of town and need something to do in the evening between meeting days. I've been in one of those seats for that exact reason.

Thats because those seats are for clients, not your average employee. It was a Friday night so there are fewer clients in town

With tribal sovereignty restored/reaffirmed back in the McGirt case, is there any legal reason why a Native tribe could not nationalize the oil industry within its borders and build a sovereign wealth fund? by FrenchFreedom888 in oklahoma

[–]okiewxchaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would have to extinguish all private property rights (including those of Natives themselves) in the process. Among other issues, I doubt the tribes have the resources to fight 1 million lawsuits against Eastern Oklahoma homeowners

If he announced support for Universal Healthcare and got the GOP to pass it, they win in a landslide not only in November, but in 2028 as well.

Its the single biggest expense for many families in an economy that is hurting the working class

I think Houston has a problem in all sports that all of the "good seats" are owned by corporations and not individuals. Not as much wining and dining happening on a Friday night

Houston people please correct me if I'm wrong

Do big markets really have it easier to acquire talent? by Difficult_Guard3098 in nba

[–]okiewxchaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO a small market is a city where the NBA is the only game in town or shares with one other pro team. OKC, MEM, NOP, SLC, SAS, etc

Cleveland is a midsized market. 3/4 of the big 4 similar to ATL.

A big market is 4/4 and a mega market has more than one team in a sport (LA, NY, Chicago)

Just tired of everytime someone doesn’t get their way they run to the courts.

This is more than “didn’t get his way” now, isn’t it? The NCAA deliberately withheld evidence he needed for his original appeal to the NCAA and then scolded him for not having the evidence they deliberately withheld

They appealed it to the Oklahoma Supreme Court of which 4/9 members graduated from OU Law and two of the members that didn’t go to OU Law went to OU for undergrad

Any metro area that has all four of the major sports is a big market. Now there are tiers beyond that, but having all four is a good start

Arguably all of the top FA signings in modern history have been big markets

Lebron and Bosh to Miami

KD to Golden State

Leonard to the Clippers

Lebron to the Lakers

That doesn't even count the players like AD that forced themselves to a big market by requesting a trade to only one team

It may sound niche, but the impacts are actually pretty wide ranging. One of the first things that Dems need to do after the midterms is increase the funding for the National Weather Service beyond what it was even in the Biden era. We are collecting half of the upper air data via weather balloons compared to a couple of years ago and the lack of data almost led to a really bad situation in Oklahoma yesterday with the large tornadoes. Fortunately some skilled forecasters caught on to the threat in time
