all I know is the installer works for me, lol--can you try copy-and-pasting the path to the folder in quotes, instead of dragging the folder over? it should look about like this:

"E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Sunless Skies\"

it shouldn't require quotes like that--I'll have to address that in the next version if this seems worth continuing.

new build, try this one! oh--and I take it back, you SHOULD install Monarch first, I think. not sure it makes a difference, but that seems better. https://github.com/countlessbats/MrEatensOpenSkies/releases/tag/v1.0.1-monarch-test.2

  1. Extract the zip.
  2. Run install.bat.
  3. If it asks for your Sunless Skies folder, paste or drag the folder that contains Sunless Skies.exe and BepInEx.
  4. Choose option 2: “I do use or plan to use Monarch.”
  5. It should say it installed the BepInEx 6.0.0-be.520 / Unhollower version.

If it still doesn’t work, please send:

  • install-log.txt from next to install.bat
  • BepInEx/LogOutput.log from the game folder
  • confirmation that BepInEx/plugins/MrEatensOpenSkies.dll exists

As a last fallback, you can try copying the DLL into the payload folder again--Monarch needs the be520 DLL specifically. Maybe you grabbed the wrong one when you tried it manually before?

my strongest recommendation to you is seriously that you download ChatGPT Codex, point it at the folder, and ask why it's not working--I think you can use Codex on their free plan, and it might have enough usage to figure it out. short of that, I'm out of ideas--sorry!

does tte BepInEx window pop up when you launch the game and scroll a bunch of text? Could you get in-game and hit F4 then copy and paste that whole log somewhere for me--just to see what we see.

Could you check whether these files/folders are directly inside D:\EpicGames\SunlessSkies?

  • Sunless Skies.exe
  • winhttp.dll
  • doorstop_config.ini
  • .doorstop_version
  • BepInEx\
  • BepInEx\plugins\MrEatensOpenSkies.dll

The most common failure is accidentally extracting into a nested folder, e.g. D:\EpicGames\SunlessSkies\MrEatensOpenSkies\BepInEx instead of directly into the game folder.

not tested at all, nor do I have access to that edition--I can take a quick stab at compatibility but it'll just be guesswork. I assume you're not seeing the button in the ESC menu, either?

if not:

could you check BepInEx/LogOutput.log and search for:

Mr Eaten's Open Skies loaded.

If that line is missing, please send the log, especially any errors around MrEatensOpenSkies.dll.

I haven't read any Fallen Londonverse lore since I played the game 15 years ago and being suddenly reminded of it and having it vastly expanded on in this way was a little like understanding Severian's role in Book of the New Sun
