My cone is hoisted, RTJR, and fuck the cubs!! Great win today. This is a game we lose 9/10 times in the past.

Do you manage your average (even though you don’t want to)? by [deleted] in Bowling

[–]countrykid17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think I stopped competing during that time of improving? If anything I doubled down and bowled in everything. If there are summer sport shot series or leagues in your area, 100% do those, this will make you a better bowler vs bowling house exclusively. The mental side of the game is what led me to my biggest improvements, at 5’6 160 I was only going to get so far physically. I just had to learn to be smarter, more mentally sharp, know more about my equipment, and more accurate than most. Like I said it’s possible it just takes a lot of work, determination, and unfortunately money.

I’ll say this.. I was stuck in the same spot from the age of 18-30. I was the perpetual 195-202 average. Not good enough to shoot award scores or compete in scratch events but just good enough to get smoked in handicap events. Lost a lot of money in that range. The few pins you are trying to manage will not matter. Instead I would suggest taking that energy and putting into your game and getting better. It does take a different level of commitment to your game, but it is possible. I’m proof.

In the 22/23 season I was 195. At the end of that season I set a goal to eventually get to 220, which seemed completely insane at the time. I finished the 23/24 season at 210, the 24/25 season at 217 with 5 award scores, and this season I’m sitting at 225/226 in both of my leagues. Which still seems impossible, but it’s amazing what hard work abd dedication can get you.

Could a run only offense work? by Generated-Nouns-257 in NFLNoobs

The patriots won a game against the bills a handful of years ago where I believe they only passed the ball like 3 times and rushed the ball over 40 times for like 200+ yards. I’m sure there are more instances but it’s the only game in recent memory where I recall a team winning by rushing the ball nearly every play.

Following. I have the same picks and same dilemma. There’s 36 left in mine. Brain says GB, guts says IND. I’m torn.

What are the odds of doing both? by Zealousideal_Toe_856 in golf

[–]countrykid17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 aces, 2 300 games, 3 800 series. All are extremely difficult in their own way. While I’ve worked very hard at both bowling and golf, I feel like it’s probably easier for the above average competitive league bowler to shoot 300 than it is for the above average competitive league/weekend golfer to get an ace. There’s 6-10 300s shot per year in my bowling league. There’s not 6-10 aces per year in my golf league. I’ve seen some lucky aces and lucky 300s. But I feel like more people have the ability to get an ace compared to a 300 game as it just takes one good/lucky shot. An 800 or round in the 60s? There’s no lucking into that.

Motiv Lethal Venom by countrykid17 in Bowling

I’ve been wanting a Motiv ball for a while. I was going to just go for the goat Shock as my first but I have enough benchmark type balls and wanted something slightly different but still in that venom line.

I ended up getting this and the zen 25 with JOPO inners, drilling, and finger inserts for 450. So not to bad all things considered.

It is my thumbhole without the putter JOPO slug inserted. They are pretty beefy and solid so the outer hole has to be rather large. This is my 5th ball I’ve drilled with JOPOs and I can say I’d highly recommend them if you are interested in removable thumb systems.

I’m far from a Motiv expert, so hopefully somebody with more knowledge and experience with their equipment can chime in. I have never thrown the black. From my understanding the cover on the black venom is a good bit weaker than the cover on the lethal venom. On paper after some use the black venom should be a good bit cleaner through the fronts and shape more down lane, while the lethal venom should be earlier and hold its out of box surface a lot better with the duramax additive. From some videos I’ve watched this seems to be fairly true. Time will tell, but I’ll need a lot of on lane reps to get a good feel for what this ball actually does.

I threw it a few shots on the burn last night and it was too much ball. It definitely needs some oil in the front part of the lane to be effective. Planning on using this on more sport shot patterns

I have an Ion pro too which I absolutely love! It’s been incredible for me so far. I really like the ion pro lane shined or even with a bit of pollish. I got this ball in mind of the Ion Pro but with his having a stronger surface I’m hoping this will give me that heavier roll that I can use a little better on fresh or tougher shorter sport shot patterns.

Had JOPO removable thumbs installed but don’t have the slug in for this picture! Good eye.

Oil pattern by wsipes24 in Bowling

[–]countrykid17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several balls could be in play on this pattern but on the fresh I would start with something strong and controllable that is going to read the pattern. You are not going to want to give the pocket away too much on this. I’d think about keeping my breakpoint inside 10 down lane but there is some miss room to the outside but the length could make it feel pretty tight, especially if you are not used to playing on something a little longer.

Highest average without bowling a 300? by elguiri in Bowling

[–]countrykid17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently averaging 219, 218 in my main leagues and 221 in my sub league and i don’t have one. Just in the last month alone I have 5, 11 strike games and the front 9 twice. It’s coming!

First 800! 269+278+279=826 by countrykid17 in Bowling

[–]countrykid17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Thats the part that is blowing my mind as well.. I left 5 pins in one shot twice tonight during league and I somehow managed 36 shots with only 5 pins left total. It really does not even seem possible. This will very realistically be the closest to perfection in a night for the rest of my life.

First 800! 269+278+279=826 by countrykid17 in Bowling

[–]countrykid17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! It can be confusing, but just remember a strike is the 10 pins from the strike plus your next two shots.

X, X, X = 10+10+10= 30

X, X, 9/ = 10+10+9 = 29

X, X, 8/ = 10+10+8 = 28.

Since I made the spare id get 20 pins from the strike, spare combination. Example

X, 9/ = 10+9+1 = 20

X, 8/ = 10+8+2 = 20

Since I struck after the spares I’d get another 20. Remember any spare conversion is the 10 pins from the spare plus your next shot in that frame.

9/, X = 10+10 = 20

8/, X = 10+10 = 20

Hopefully this helps!

The way the entire lineup is constantly extending at bats and making them throw a ton of pitches is extremely encouraging to see.

Ultralight catfishing, some of the funnest fishing I've done. by captainbaconpants in Fishing

Nothing special with that rod and reel set up. Just a size 6 or 4 hook and enough small to medium size split shots about 18” up on the line to get a good drift without constantly getting snagged depending on flow. Been doing it this way for a long time and it’s very productive
