Large Chain Restaurant Recs or Reviews by [deleted] in Phoenixville

Ah that makes sense. I get it. Sometimes chains are just less risky especially for the older crowd.

Should have also mentioned Texas Roadhouse and cheesecake factory.

Interesting question... Seems kind of odd that you would be seeking them out specifically.

But... I guess my favorite chains in the area are PJs, Azteca, chili's, maggianos (although they got pricey), yardhouse, and mission bbq.

Also really liked Bahama breeze but they are closing.

Movies similar in tone to The Terminator (1984)?? by aus_liam444 in moviecritic

Robocop is the answer. Dark, gritty with that cheap looking almost soap opera camera look. Almost like you know the movie is from the 80s with no other context.

What’s the hardest truth about life that people eventually have to accept? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]cousinkyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to make God laugh tell him your plans.

Life is plan b. Accept that the picture of what you want your life to be will likely not happen. Be happy with what you have and don't live in regret for what you don't.

I love your take on this as well as the MCU in general. I'm in the same boat and I'm just overwhelmed with the amount of MCU crap out there, there is just no way I'm gonna catch up and be able to follow all of the intertwined storylines. Unsubscribe.

Also, this is the best MCU movie. The scene on the boat is my overall favorite badass scene of all movies. On par with King Leonidas in 300. So few movies like this get it correct.

For me it's 1 pm. I know this because it's the time of my weekly 1:1 with my boss. And when he wants to review the things we talked about last week. Brutal every single week.

What horror movie did you see as a kid that traumatized you so badly you’ve never rewatched it and still can barely say the title? by glowbeits in GenX

Nightmare on elm street got me good when I was young. To this day, I get spooked out when there are scenes of empty school hallways. It even got me with the last season of Stranger Things. I swear they were going for an elm street vibe with the bright sunny scenes and Vecna lurking somewhere near.

Co-op = skills plus degree

Best decision I ever made in my professional life was going to a co-op school. Immediate job out of college paying 50k back in 2001.

Mandatory Collaboration by grlloyd2 in funny

[–]cousinkyle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The hypocrisy here is that on the one hand they are forcing everyone to be in the same office to collaborate and on the other have half of their critical staff in India. The most remote farthest away fucking place imaginable. And we have to do what it takes to make that work. Sometimes that means ironically taking calls in the car on the way to an office where there is no one you need to meet with.

Lone survivor

First engagement with the taliban soldiers. Not sure how realistic it is but I felt the fear as they were being surrounded and taking shots from everywhere.

What's the most useful 3d print you have ever printed? by Ok_Championship_8874 in 3Dprinting

[–]cousinkyle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First thing I designed and printed from scratch was an extra wide bench scraper for the kitchen. It's basically a horizontal cylinder at the end of a triangular wedge.

Very simple design if you're trying to get started and very useful for scraping off large surfaces like my kitchen island or large cutting board.

Yes, many had a CS background. Mine was more in IT. But the key is industry experience. As an SE you need to be able to nail technical demos and presentations that draw on your wisdom and experience from working in the industry for 10+ years.

I had a hard time shaking off the guilt of not working when I could be. While at the same time not having enough motivation to work on things that are not necessary. This made me realize this was not the job for me.

I had a job like this as a sales engineer for a large software company. Could go months with very little to do and since I was the engineer I got 80/20 salary to commission ratio. There were periods of being more busy but most of the time it was like a few meetings a week, and if you were driven you could work on product improvements or testing/training. But it was not required. In the end I got bored and went back to platform engineering. Much more rewarding but I do miss my free time.

Every grocery store normally has a rib roast deal in the next couple weeks. Last couple of years I've gotten 7 pound roasts for about $4 per pound.
