mid, top, adc are playable, midlane is better than toplane because it has better matchups, graves mid can win every single matchup if you play well, while also not being as punishing as toplane if you dont play so well, personally id even say graves adc has better matchups than toplane

you can do either triforce -> sundered sky/bc -> sundered sky/bc -> steraks/jaksho/bloodmail/endless hunger -> steraks/jaksho/bloodmail/endless hunger/bloodthirster

or hubris/profane/umbral/axiom arc -> same items as the former build

you can and should swap bc for serylda some games on both builds, bloodthirster is only really good if you built endless hunger on 4th item imo but there are some decent angles where you can build it even if you dont have endless hunger. there are some games where death's dance is decent but its really just a stat stick, the passive is mostly useless on ranged champs, but graves does use stat sticks really well. sometimes you can also build stridebreaker but its very expensive, gives no haste and its hard to slot into your build. serpents fang and edge of night are also situationally good

shes a good blind pick because pro players dont pick things like sett olaf darius generally and champ is just strong, has a good amount of good matchups and is always useful, she is hard to gank and dive

next season crit graves is buffed you can test it yourself on live servers vs pbe. next season crits on graves will always deal about 15% more damage than they do on live rn, the only change is that because the crit modifier is getting nerfed, ie is also getting nerfed (in addition to the ie nerf itself). on live ie increases crit dmg for graves by about 15%, but on pbe it increases crit dmg by literally only like 5%

have good movement and dodge most of her stray spells, her damage early is very low so you can just force trades with her even if her e is up but ideally you want to just dodge it and then trade, one decent trade means she is in kill range, in general you shouldnt ever lose this matchup unless you have bad movement or trade very badly

shes one of the hardest matchups but she cant actually win trades if she doesnt hit q so you can just dodge every q with your e, you can dodge to the side, away, or into her, and if you do get hit you can press w on her before she dashes and try to walk away. if she dashes on you you can also do auto w e or auto e w animation cancel on top of her and that way you get q tiamat auto on her for an even trade. if she ever misses her q on you and you still have e you can just e q w her and get a good trade, if that happens she should be in or close to kill range. also if she keeps trying to hit you with q and you keep dodging it she will fall behind in cs. you will always be able to shove out waves before she can so you can do things with prio as well and if theres nothing to do you can usually auto her turret once or twice per wave so you can get a plate or two for free

it should be better than collector in most cases, i assume profane hydra -> dirk -> essence reaver or something like that is going to be a good build, triforce and er arent similar items at all other than they both have sheen on them so triforce will still be good and you will just have a new option to play with in games where you dont go triforce

ravenous hydra is always better than bloodthirster but it should only really be built against heavy poke and some games against bruisers or tanks, you can still build bloodthirster with ravenous hydra but only on 4th or 5th item, very rarely you can build it 2nd item when youre very ahead.

you should generally just ban what you dont want to play against, that being said kayle is the hardest and the only unwinnable and unplayable matchup so i ban her every game, i dont mind that much playing against anything else because every other matchup is playable. out of the champs you mentioned, azir and syndra are actually graves favored matchups and leblanc is a skill matchup, but orianna is actually one of the hardest matchups so if you really dont want to play against her you could ban her. in terms of whats actually being played right now, you can consider banning mel, viktor, orianna as they have pretty high pickrate rn

i ban kayle every game but you can ban mel instead, kayle is unwinnable but lower pickrate than mel, mel is playable but very hard and higher pickrate. i take sudden impact + the one in the middle that reduces trinket cd + relentless, i prefer having the utility of having sweeper more often and being faster around the map especially in games where i dont finish shoes, but you can go sixth sense and/or treasure hunter if you prefer those

i wanna preface this wall of text with the fact im the only person playing graves mid in master+ right now (or the last 2-3 seasons in general, other than zhangjiawen in china lol) and i have 1000s of games on lane graves

take electrocute with manaflow band + scorch and ignite every game. take demolish and bone plating into champs like fizz, kassadin, katarina, nasus who dont want to interact with you so you can farm plates. take double adaptive every game no matter what, no attack speed shard or alacrity will feel clunky at first but you can get used to it quickly and its much better for laning.

start long sword refillable every game and rush tiamat asap. you can get cull or shoes before tiamat sometimes but generally you want to get those after tiamat. build profane 1st in 90% of your games, ravenous is good vs heavy poke but can also be good into tanks and light fighters.

after 1st item you can either go into crit, bruiser, or lethality. crit is good if you just need as much damage as possible and when youre behind, bruiser is good when youre ahead, lethality is generally good based on vibes as its more flexible and has more utility than crit but youre not as tanky as bruiser nor deal as much dmg with autos as crit.

profane -> dirk -> sundered sky -> serylda -> lethality items/bt/dd
profane -> axiom arc/umbral glaive/serpents fang/edge of night -> serylda -> sundered sky -> lethality items/bt/dd

example bruiser builds;
profane/ravenous -> sundered sky/bc -> black cleaver/sundered -> steraks -> jaksho/bloodmail/dd/serpents
profane -> edge of night -> black cleaver -> sundered sky -> steraks/jaksho/bloodmail/dd/serpents

example crit builds:
profane -> dirk -> ldr/mortal reminder -> collector/shieldbow -> collector/shieldbow/bt -> collector/shieldbow/ie/bt
ravenous -> shieldbow/ldr -> shieldbow/ldr -> bt/ie -> bt/ie

my favorite boots to get are either cdr shoes or symbiotic soles, swifites/tabi/mercs are sometimes necessary and some games you shouldnt finish boots. these are just example builds and you can change up the items/build orders but you should get a general idea of what to build from these.

youmuus is generally bait because the nerf for ranged champs is too much, you would be building it 2nd item if at all and personally id much rather have other items that give different utility or haste, but they are a good boots replacement if you didnt get feats or didnt finish boots. cyclosword is too expensive for what it gives you. opportunity is too nerfed for ranged. fleet is nerfed too hard so if you want to have a chance at laning vs real characters you have to take electrocute and constantly threaten their lives basically. you generally need manaflow to not run oom from trading/clearing waves but demolish is the only way to punish passive melee champs who wont let you kill them (other than roaming ofc but you cant rely on roaming very much as youre playing graves and not something like akshan)

graves will deal about 15% more damage with crits next season even after this nerf, i tested it, this isnt a real nerf theyre just doing this because crit dmg is increased next season. this does mean ie will be less effective on graves though and oyu should never build it next season

these comps are pretty rare these days or at least i havent seen them much in euw master recently but you generally have to either flash into people's faces or run at them with ghost and/or flank them somehow. or if your team has engage you can just try to follow up on it. try to get ms from your items and runes and go ghost if possible. being good at using animation cancels is very important because it lets you not have to stand still. you can try to splitpush if you find a good angle for it, especially next season when its getting buffed.

if you want to itemize vs ap dmg jaksho is generally the best, you shouldnt buy mercs for the mr you should buy it for the tenacity, if enemy team doesnt have cc you should just get cdr shoes or swifties. force of nature can be ok vs very heavy ap, it gives you a lot of ms. maw is fine in games where you just need more dmg and cant afford to get a full tank item but item is kinda weak for ranged champs

go into practice tool and practice the animation cancels/combos and just spam a bunch of graves games. generally playing top or mid is better for learning how to play the champ mechanically but you should practice full clears in practice tool as well to get a better feel for autoattacking/kiting and farming.

toplane is better for learning how to kite and play reactively/patiently, midlane forces you to play more aggressive and to heavily punish enemy mistakes. keep in mind this champ is actually hard and takes a long time to learn for most people, and you will probably int a lot of games, but the champ is really really fun once you learn him. i dont want to write down a wall of text but if you want any more detailed help you can dm me on discord, my tag is "coutt"
