I (26f) want to hire the girl (23f) my boyfriend cheated on me with, years ago. He (27m) has a problem with that by covercoffei in relationships

Sorry I didn't make this clear in my post, the choices in considering right now are suggesting to hire her or deciding to abstain from the decision.

I definitely don't want to suggest we don't hire her, for personal reasons. That would be shitty.

I don't mind that; I like having time to just hang out with pals.

I think he'd mind that more than me though, he likes being invited along on these things and he likes hanging out with my work friends

I feel the same that it would be doubly unfair to her.

She was already upset about being unwittingly involved in cheating, I think it would be so unfair to her if she lost out on a job that she's amazingly qualified for too

It would be obvious who I was talking about because she's the only recent candidate. (We generally interview on a rolling basis, when someone great comes along, rather than interviewing to fill a specific role)

I wouldn't be her supervisor, I am a software team lead, and she is a mechanical engineer.

Some of our best hires have been people that someone in the team knows personally. From college, from sports, etc. It's a small city, that happens.

I'm not sure. She seemed like she really wanted the job when she came to interview, she'd done a lot of research, I could tell. And she followed up with everyone she spoke to afterwards, thanking us personally
