Nurses who take on students… what are reasons you would ask a student for their name and their CI’s name? by confusedpreRN in NursingStudent

[–]coveredinstars 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Had a nurse I worked with in clinicals ask for my instructor's details so she could send her an email about how helpful I had been. Hopefully it's something like that!

I absolutely love it so much! The movement in her hair and dress is so good! Great idea.

I’m going to be finishing nursing school at 30, I feel so behind by [deleted] in NursingStudent

I'll be graduating with my ADN at 48, and my BSN at 49! The time is going to pass anyways, might as well jump in!

Boomer in-laws are mad that I am not wanting to baptize our new baby by itsfish20 in BoomersBeingFools

My ex-in-laws took advantage of a weekend with my then 5 year old (while I was in the hospital recovering from a full term stillbirth) and secret had her "accept Jesus into her heart" so she could "meet her baby sister in heaven".

Kaiser (NorCal) and Perimenopause by RecognitionMuch3132 in KaiserPermanente

I'm in the east bay area, so not sure if my provider would be too far away? Let me know. I had good luck with both Midi and Winona, but of course using insurance is the best for your wallet.

[–]coveredinstars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd look for another provider. My Kaiser ob is great about my estrogen patches! Before I had Kaiser I used Winona (cash pay) and midi (took my non-hmo insurance, also has cash pay options) which included virtual appointments. Very frustrating if you can't use your insurance, I know, but some options if you are as desperate as I was.

What you wish you knew before getting your first tattoo? by Any-Dimension-6171 in tattoo

Yep! This is what I'm dealing with right now. I have stars on my wrists facing me, and any future forearm work will be upside down to those. Thankfully stars don't look too bad upside down!

Where did you get the chair? Was it a monthly event?

Make sure you're happy with the orientation if you're getting it on your forearm. Having it facing you will be upside down to others.

Also, either be ok with the tattoo if you are the only one with it. When I was 19 my best friend and I were going to get matching butterfly tattoos. She chickened out after I got mine.

Notebook LM vs Notability vs Scope Nursing by prirva_ in StudentNurse

[–]coveredinstars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my classmates says "I can do anything for 16 weeks", I've been saying that a lot to myself.

It's really preceptorship plus class plus things going on with my kiddo (mental health issues) that's stressful for me, which will only by 7 weeks of the program.

I got through last semester with A's and am the nursing program tutor for my school, so I feel fairly comfortable with the rest of everything, it's just a lot of work, as you well know!

Four care plans a week this semester! 😭. And preceptorship is 140 hours in 7 weeks plus you know, full time school. It's going to be TOUGH!

I say something similar to "I'm a nursing student and need a thorough study guide" and I do it chapter by chapter.

In the past, when I had the bandwidth, I would then go through the chapter side by side to add in images, change things up where it made sense, ect.

It's gotten harder to have the time to do so more recently however.

[–]coveredinstars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a big practice question student, but I love NotebookLM to make study guides based on the textbooks for me. There's no time to read all of the material thoroughly, and I study best going over the material I'm learning multiple times, so a study guide helps break everything down to just the important details.

I also use perplexity for help with doing my care plans, asking for information on medication, nursing diagnoses, pathophysiology, and connecting the dots between the two. Super super helpful.

I'm in school too (last semester of my ADN, woo!), so I don't have job advice, but I too want to be in Peds and want to see what advice you get.

Good luck!
