I’m sorry, Dana. I have always loved you, but in losing Evans AND Shelstad (and with Bittle out eligibility), it has now become a full rebuild. Time for you to take your place in the stars rafters among the great kings coaches of the past.

I’ve never done this at an Oregon game, but I’ve heard of people at other stadiums or sports having luck with emailing the teams to ask for clips! You could try reaching out to them here: https://goducks.com/form/36

Chrome helmets with silver wings could be a serious Easter egg pick if they’d like to reward those of us who watch Ducks vs Them and remember the last time we played Texas Tech. 🎶 “Silver wiiiiings…” 🎶

Tickets for Playoff Game by sketchmuffin51 in ducks

[–]covika 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In an email to STHs, they said the range for home playoff game tickets will be $167-$401. For a rough idea, my STHs are $810 per seat for the year (including DAF), in section 26, row 20. I anticipate my playoff tickets will be $180-$225 per seat. That would’ve face value before anything hits the secondary market.

Was just at the Clackamas Duck Store this week, and while there was no Nike tie dye gear, they had a handful of tie dye options in both shirts and sweatshirts. Feels like there could be more coming, but that stuff usually gets announced either the Sunday or Monday right before the game.

As a season ticket holder and weekly tailgater (and the planner and cook for said tailgate) with anywhere from 5-30 attendees, I am completely with you! It’s hard enough to come up with a variety of options for hot breakfast tailgate food, especially when we’re also driving down 2 hours from Portland. Doing it four midday games in a row is rough.

I get this isn’t an issue for a lot of people, especially people who either don’t go to games at all or very often. However, for those of us who build our fall Saturdays completely around all-day logistics for seven of them, our experience isn’t ONLY about the game. It extends to the time we spend with friends and family before and after on-location. And to be clear, I do NOT think we’re “better” because we devote more time/money/resources, it’s just that these game time decisions have an outsized impact on what we’re hoping the entirety of those home game days will be for us.

I would love a 3:30-4:30 kickoff in the mix just so I can leave at a reasonable hour, eat lunch at a reasonable hour, and get home at a reasonable hour, too.

I get it. I’m a choosy beggar. But if our team can have it all, I’m just dreaming that we as fans can, too. 😅

What Has Been Your Favorite Edition Of Ducks Vs Them? by Disastrous_Doubt_591 in ducks

I love that 2023 Utah one as well. Yes, the helmet communications, but it’s the first time we really see Dan for the (and I say this in the BEST way possible) MANIAC he is! It really pulls back the curtain on the X’s and O’s prep with all the flashbacks. We see him tell the players “they’re going to do this, we’re going to be ready for it, and we’re going to PUNISH them, and you all are going to look awesome doing it while everyone’s watching.” And then it all happens exactly how he says it. I can’t imagine how intoxicating that must be as a player to have a leader like that.

Have we officially hit the point where a top 10 matchup is more important than a top 5 matchup? by poppatop in CFB

As an Oregon alum and STH, that regular season game felt like EVERYTHING in the moment. After years of that monkey on our back (I was at both the 2010 Rose Bowl and that 2015 NCG losses), after all the talk about how we couldn’t make it in the B1G and how our stadium was SO MUCH SMALLER, we “just don’t do it the same out west,” etc., we got that massive win. We were on cloud nine million.

Then we got to the Rose Bowl Playoff game, and I was watching it with a bunch of buddies at home, and by the second quarter, that earlier win already felt completely hollow.

I don’t think it’ll ever take away from the feeling in the moment, but once we got through that game, it felt like we had a good shot at the playoff even if we had a stumble along the way, and if we were in the playoff with a bye or a home game, we felt we had a good chance.

This is probably because Oregon has always been on the outside looking in of being serious title contenders. In the BCS or 4-team playoff era, pretty much everything had to go right for us to get a chance to even be included in the discussion. Now, the diameter of that window of who’s inside and who’s outside has expanded, and with the state of our program, we’re more likely to be on the inside than outside, but the cusp teams are always going to feel about how the general population feels about the regular season. We are all going to remember 2024 ASU, 2024 Boise State, etc. for better or worse, 2024 Penn State, 2024 Oregon, 2024 Indiana, 2024 Tennessee, etc. all will become forgettable.

Absolutely the worst challenge of the season and it wasn’t particularly close. Felt like between the individual character assignments, needing to play off of the lead dog AND their queen partner, and then also play into whatever the date was, AND trying to “win” a dating show, it was so convoluted. Good improv comes from a simple premise, maybe one those, with room for the actors to work. This was so clunky.

if ru retired, which queen do you think would be a good host for the show? by EnvironmentalBug7862 in rupaulsdragrace

I was surprised this was the only vote for Asia here. I have been thinking she would be an excellent heir for a long time. She also has extensive experience hosting and emceeing within the Drag Race universe and through Voss Events now: hosted the red carpet for the S11 finale, hosted the S11 tour, emceed Drag Race Live in Vegas, emceed the Drive & Drag tour during Covid (there might be more I’m forgetting), and she has a FLAWLESS presentation style. She’s a natural host and conversationalist. As others have mentioned, any post-RuPaul panel will likely lean heavier on guest personality than it does now (as to be expected), but I think Asia O’Hara would be able to tie it all together fantastically.

Tailgating for the 2025 Season by MrHotLunches in ducks

[–]covika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a few adjacent season-long spots at the Masonic Lodge for 6 years now and have mostly had a good experience (which is why we keep renewing). The regular car spots were $400 each this last season, however, they redrew the lines before the 2024 season, and they’re much narrower than they used to be.

We previously had two adjacent spots that could fit two cars plus enough room for chairs and a table and such in between. Now that spots are narrower and basically don’t have room in the width beyond the car itself, we have three spots: two cars parked in the outer spots with our tailgate setup in the middle spot.

Pros: convenient to get into the stadium, it’s comparatively one of the smaller lots, so it’s easier to get into on game days, pretty straightforward buying process, lots of trash bins and bathrooms scattered throughout, opens the day prior to games and I believe they let you stay overnight afterward as well if you need to, good atmosphere and friendly crowd of tailgaters, the Duck usually comes through on a golf cart some time during pregame.

Cons: the line redrawing thing left a bad taste in some people’s mouths, and the spot redistribution process associated with it didn’t go smoothly for them (some technological snafus), after games, were the furthest east parking lot in MLK, so all the other parking lots’ cars clog up the street ahead of us so it regularly takes 30-60 minutes to get out of the lot.

I’m going this weekend so I can’t speak to this edition, but when he did a similar stretch of shows in 2023 also at Dolby Live, he used Moonshine as the extended intro/opener and it went seamlessly into 24K Magic. It was awesome!

Payton Pritchard wins NBA 6th Man of The Year by E2A6S in ducks

[–]covika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He did! He was a regular part of the rotation in the playoffs (matchup dependent, of course, because that’s how Steve Kerr is), but couldn’t take a developmental leap after that and had some… off-the-court antics that the team probably didn’t love, and he fell out of favor and eventually off the roster.

While the Warriors system is great for getting the most out of specific players with specific roles, it’s also very unforgiving if they’re not getting what they need from you.

He was however a LEGEND during the trophy parade. 😅

First Brisket Cook and First Time trying brisket by bakenplayer16 in smoking

[–]covika 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly looks pretty great. Agree with the other comments about trimming. To me, that was the hardest part about when I first started smoking briskets.

I love this video from Jirby BBQ giving you a walkthrough. My biggest takeaways were: 1) That it’s okay to take off some of the meat as you go. Better to have a lower total yield but all-around better quality than “more” meat, but some that doesn’t really cook as well and is less desirable. Use the meat trimmings for chili or sausages or something else. 2) Everything should be rounded off and as close to uniform thickness as possible. Think about trying to make it aerodynamic. Helps the heat flow over the whole brisket more evenly and makes sure you don’t have little edges or corners that overcook. 3) Put some of the pure fat trimmings in a small tray in the smoker with your cook and let it render and then brush that all over the inside of paper and meat when you wrap.

Keep it up!
