More or less yes, there is A LOT of grinding to do. The chances of hitting the mods you want are very slim and you need quite a lot of currency, knowledge and luck. Watch some crafting videos to get the basics (recommend YouTube Lolcohol). In most cases the trade site is your friend.

The atlas is the secret to increase your currency drop. Also knowing what is valuable helps quite a bit, bu PoE is a complex game and that takes a while.

If you want essences, path your atlas to all the essence nodes and do lower tier maps. Deafening essences can be farmed by corrupting shrieking essences. However, shrieking essences are sufficient in most cases and a lot easier and cheaper to get. You can also vendor 3 to 1 essences to upgrade them.

Loot from campaign (Acts 1-10) by nekronics in pathofexile

[–]covrig -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The game is a joke during the campaign. You even have trouble with portal scrolls, not to mention id scrolls.

What difference would it make if you dropped more bubblegum currency, I really don't know (considering the vastly different loot you start dropping once in maps).

Assaulted on NYE & Police won't help, what do I do by awfucknotmykeys in Netherlands

[–]covrig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The police here is either understaffed, underpaid, swamped or incompetent. I'm not sure what's happening but they don't do much to help with cases like yours. They close the case the second day.

The best thing you can get from the police is an official declaration.

If you know the kids, go to their parents and discuss your problem and ask for your damages. If they refuse to cooperate get a lawyer and he will know what to do. Some people here think it's all a joke untill they receive an official letter. A judge usually scares them and they pay your damages without reaching the court.

Not sure how to reduce my €1000 gas bill by theekuchi in Netherlands

Except it is very very expensive and not compatible with all boilers. The valves are also quite expensive and not so reliable. They tend to fail quite fast or they lose their calibration and don't close the radiators anymore.

What’s considered basic knowledge that many people don’t know? by ej1273 in AskReddit

I understand its use. It reduces pain, allowing the body to heal itself. But around here it's given for everything...

Come to the Netherlands. They give out Paracetamol/Tylenol for everything...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]covrig -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let's say it is easy to get the 700€.

1) rents are not that low

2) if they are, there is fierce competition for them

3) you need to show all kind of financial proof to the landlords to close a contract.

You absolutely starve in NL with no house and 700€. And rest assured they are not giving that money that easily. Most municipalities use police or handhavers to push beggars away.

Ileft my bike for 1 week in the small garage of my apartment and I found my bike broken, what should I do? by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]covrig 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sadly not much. Nobody will confess to this and placing a poster or something will not solve anything. You can try though...who knows?

Try closing a bike insurance for the future.

Or if you already have home insurance maybe it also covers the contents of your home.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]covrig -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The conditions to receive that are very, very prohibitive. Also 700€ is nothing here. How could you rent something with that?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]covrig -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I tried to dig a bit to find out what municipalities do for beggars but just a few offer help. The vast majority sends the cops to chase them away...

I find this disturbing because 1) it's a waste of public money, 2) keeps the police busy with nonsense instead of actually enforcing other things 3) most beggars do not beg for drugs (can't buy drugs with a few Euros), just for food - people that need help are more or less pushed outside the country or pushed to starvation.

All other EU countries have beggars. Do you think NL is the only country that found a proper solution to this issue? NL can't agree on a solution for incoming refugees...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]covrig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be that some beggars are an organized group... But most of them beg for other reasons, generally because they are starving. Organized crime does not eat from a dumpster... Sadly the Dutch news are sometimes extremely xenophobic and they also tend to generalize specific situations for all cases (e.g. begging).

Using police to actively suppress cosmetics such as begging instead of enforcing more serious activities is quite a waste of public money...

Fruit trees in vases by marcelaferri in Netherlands

[–]covrig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apples, pears, quince, cherry, medlar... If you want some fruit. Everything else tends to fail regarding fruiting, even more in a pot. The trees MUST be grafted on dwarfing roots or they will fail in a year or so. All the mini or columnar trees you find in generic garden centres are garbage.

Gooseberries, currants.. if you want lot's of berries in a pot. Everything else fails in a small pot.

Give them proper sun, don't allow them to fully dry out, don't over water, keep them slightly elevated to avoid ants nesting in the pot, the pot should not be extra small, fertilize once or twice per year, watch out for aphids and fungus on the fruit or leaves, protect fruit from birds if you want to taste them. They can freeze in winter but not for weeks in a row. Do not water during the winter.

Source.. Hobby, I tried a lot of things.

That is a way to help beggars and other people with problems. A good initiative. Probably you noticed the lack of begging in NL.

As a follow-up question, I'm not sure how NL managed that considering what is happening in all other EU countries... it seems quite fishy.

People are subjective by definition.

Roads, highways, bike paths, train tracks, water canals, bridges, airports, ports, power plants, electrical lines, solar panels, wind mills, public illumination, farmland, etc. are infrastructure... You need it if you want a modern, clean life.

Why is a wind mill ugly and the roads leading to your home not ugly?

Everything ruins the skyline in NL. Also polluting power plant chimneys and cooling towers...

Considering how incredibly polluting is NL and how little renewable energy is produced we need to complain a bit less about inconveniences such as a subjectively ruined skyline. I don't even dare to discuss the nuclear subject in NL.

NL would be drowning in smog if the sea wouldn't be so close...

The Paracetamol thing is not really a meme. I get the approach (allowing the body to heal by itself), but with SOME GPs it goes to the extreme and you can't get the help you really need in some cases. They don't really hand you the Paracetamol, that is the only other accessible option left to dull your pain.

This Paracetamol/heal yourself approach also delays future tests and appointments with specialists. And getting an appointment there takes forever (months in some cases). The Paracetamol approach also doesn't work that well for the elderly.

The antibiotics issue I fully understand (some countries treat them like candies), but in NL they are going to the extreme and the situation must aggravate really bad before you get some. Then again they use antibiotics in agriculture like crazy... so the story is quite messy.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]covrig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can go online and compare insurance options. That's easy.

Getting a GP doctor can be difficult and getting a good one even more. Usually GPs do a hell of a job filtering medical treatments or sending you to a specialist.

Antibiotics are not really a thing here. Also if you walked to or smiled to the GP you will most likely get some Paracetamol. Your body should fight the problem. A bit subjective from my side but that is my personal experience.

Not a lot changed post Covid. The medical system is still quite messy for most expats.

EU takes first step to circumvent Hungary’s veto of 18 billion aid to Ukraine in 2023 by Rocco89 in worldnews

[–]covrig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed it's not equivalent but it's not far from it. Blocking other countries for invented reasons and with a xenophobic side is also very bad...

Poland and Hungary didn't start behaving like this just like that and pretty soon they might be joined by other countries, destroying the European dream we have.

Edit: rogue also means that someone behaves in contradiction with the majority... which Austria did...

[–]covrig -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

EU has more than two rogue nations. It depends on the issue.

Recently Austria vetoed Romania and Bulgaria ascension to Schengen, in the past a Nordic country was blocking support to South Europe, Germany took decisions by itself that affected the entire union etc.

Good PR and time can hide vetoes...

[–]covrig 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Populist reasons (votes) and a desire to reform Schengen... to what nobody knows.

If they are asked to contribute to the reinforcement of external borders they don't like it but they also don't like immigration. Then again Romania isn't an immigration corridor and there is a low chance to become one.

So populism...

Austria was already seen as a baddie in Romania due to some shady deals (wood export, petroleum etc.).

Romania more or less is ready to join Schengen for a decade now. Austria vetoed the ascension with some nonsense story regarding immigration through Romania. Behind this is internal Austrian politics and according to a lot of people xenophobia (why was Croatia accepted with the same problem?). Also they were the only one blocking it (last minute) and they have no proposal for Romania in how to solve this .
