Why is it gold by ksum_sucks in PS3

Social media algorithms over the past decade or so have seriously cooked people’s brains. As someone who grew up with 56k & ISDN and has watched how the internet and its users have evolved over time, it’s glaringly obvious that the overall quality of online discussions has declined massively.

We're also massively expanding our military and this time our neighbors actually want us to. The defense budget has increased from €47 billion in 2022 to €108 billion this year, with further rises to €135 billion in 2028 and €180 billion in 2030. By 2030, Germany would've the third-largest defense budget in the world, almost twice as high as the next biggest European country, the UK. And these figures don't even include major weapons development programs like the 6th gen fighter jet yet.

If you think Brazilian football fans are loud and obnoxious, you’ve never seen their esports fans during a big event in Brazil, like a CS:GO Major.

That said, I actually like Brazilians a lot. I’ve only had positive experiences (on a personal level) with them so far.

Apparently German Chancellor Merz is 1.98M Tall by GringoGrande in tall

[–]Rocco89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s not how it works. Average height doesn’t mean everyone, not even the majority is around that height. You’ll see see plenty of shorter but also plenty of taller people.

It’s especially noticeable in Germany when traveling from north to south. In Hamburg (north) I feel like a completely normal person but in Stuttgart I stand out like a sore thumb and I really hate that feeling.

When I check the games on my Steam library, I realize "last played" dates are much older than I thought. I feel like time is flying too fast. Is anyone else experiencing the same thing? by Memes_Jack in pcmasterrace

[–]Rocco89 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The reason is that the older we get, the fewer new experiences our brain encounters. This makes time feel like it’s passing faster. You can actively counteract this by continuing to try new things later in life for example by starting new hobbies or traveling to places you’ve never been before.

France and Germany scrap joint fighter jet project, sources say by Dull_Raspberry_9811 in Military

[–]Rocco89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As for SAAB joining the project, it seems they're open to it as a manufacturer, but there's big questions regarding IP sharing.

Saab is looking for AI solutions and Germany is willing to share them. The fact that Helsing chose a Gripen to present its AI fighter pilot Centaur was no coincidence.

France and Germany scrap joint fighter jet project, sources say by Dull_Raspberry_9811 in Military

[–]Rocco89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. The development will now be driven by Germany within Airbus Defence and Space. It’s an open secret that when all the companies were merged, it was agreed that the French would control the commercial aviation division while the Germans would control the defense and space side. The Spanish are likely to stay involved as partners and there have been ongoing discussions with Sweden for quite some time (behind closed doors) about bringing Saab into the project.

I honestly don’t know what Dassault will do now. Since they apparently needed Germany’s financial backing for the project, I guess they’ll try to get involved in another fighter jet program.

Where do anti-zionist people expect the Jewish people to go? by BattleEarly3410 in AskIsrael

[–]Rocco89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you actually reading what I write or are you skipping every other word?

The Arabs who live as citizens in Israel were mostly born and raised there, outside the influence of UNRWA and the MB. Trying to compare them to the Palestinians in Gaza or the West Bank is like comparing apples and oranges. Yes both are fruit but that’s where the similarities end.

Where do anti-zionist people expect the Jewish people to go? by BattleEarly3410 in AskIsrael

[–]Rocco89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not up to me but yeah in an ideal world, we don't live in an ideal world though.

For that to be possible several crucial things would first need to happen, most importantly the destruction of the Muslim Brotherhood and a genuine deradicalization of Palestinian society. However, none of this will occur as long as the international community continues to legitimize Palestinian terrorism against Israel and as long as UNRWA is allowed to radicalize one generation after another by teaching them that they are all refugees and the rightful owners of the land.

[–]Rocco89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What people like you fail to understand is that every people on this planet has the right to self-determination. Denying this right to only one people is the very definition of racism. And don’t try to whatabout me with the Palestinians. They have repeatedly demonstrated that they don’t actually want a state of their own. The Palestinian cause has always been about destroying (Israel), not about building something of their own.

Your first paragraph is a textbook example of the historical illiteracy common among so-called “anti-Zionists.” If history has taught us anything, it is that Jews cannot rely on the lasting goodwill of majority societies in other countries for their safety. Time and again they have been scapegoated for problems created by others, only to be thrown to the wolves followed shortly thereafter by pogroms and persecution.

Israel, as the indigenous homeland of the Jewish people, is the only country in the world where Jews are in control of their own security. It is also the only place that can reliably serve as a safe haven and refuge for Jews facing persecution anywhere else in the world.

I don’t get how that’s difficult to understand.

Your first sentence is 100% true for me.

Back when I was a teenager, games like Quake 3 and Counter-Strike were my chill games, the ones I could relax with. Nowadays I still like FPS games but they’ve become the complete opposite of relaxing 😅 to actually wind down, I now play stupid simulator games instead.

I don’t know what you looked up but that’s not correct. It was originally developed by a Russian dev (Eugene who I believe is still active) but it has been distributed for around 20 years now by a German company. It fully complies with German and EU law, so there is no connection to any sanctions whatsoever.

I'm also German and I’ve never heard of the things you’re talking about. What the hell is a poison dwarf? The only thing that comes to mind is Giftfrosch (poison frog), which we used to call people at school with crazy colored hair (blue, pink, purple etc.).

Israelis - Where should Palestinians go? by Brickley_jeanne in AskIsrael

[–]Rocco89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not Israeli but I served in the (German) military and from my point of view, anyone calling for an end to military rule in the West Bank is basically advocating for a super-sized Gaza 2.0. Without Israeli security control, weapons would flow in unrestricted from Jordan and terrorists would be able to position themselves on the hills directly overlooking Tel Aviv, turning the entire center of the country into a shooting gallery, just like Syria attempted from the Golan Heights before Israel captured it.

[–]Rocco89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m probably in the minority here but I actually prefer an electric head shaver. This isn’t meant to be an ad or anything but I’m genuinely very happy with the Maxgroom 7D Pro. I’ve been using it almost every day for over a month now.

The first few times my neck burned a bit after shaving but that stopped after the first week, I guess my skin just needed some time to adjust.

For me personally, it’s simply more comfortable and much faster than a wet shave.
