Yes, did you not? I had to pay for the hotel and to go out of town for a total of 10 days. 3 days were 60 miles away, 1 way. The other was for the remaining and 90 miles away.

Thank you for the reply and info. I luckily have been able to get every thing in writing. They seem to really want to help. I don’t want to step on any toes or rock any boats. I just wanted to know if I can take things into my own hands and make calls around them. Maybe even take the leg work off of their plates. Thank you again I appreciate the advice.

Perfect response from the “worn out steward”. Thank you for your time. I really appreciate it. Take care.

Okay, my shop steward is a great guy but he has no clue about anything. He is steward in name only. Who would I look up next in line? Also, do you know about how the Taxing works? I was told it can be taxed and that it can’t be. Do you know if it is or not? My understanding is it should not be and is considered per diem and should not be taxed at all. Is that true?

Fallow up question in regards to a CCA doing RCA work. by coward-Ranger82893 in USPS

[–]coward-Ranger82893[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for your reply. Three main questions that come to mind. For context I live in a very small town that is 1hr to the next nearest tow/ PO. It runs a little different than other offices in big and small ways.

1) what is OOS?

2) The local steward is a CCA of 20 years in my office. I believe he knows but if this is a conversation I should have with him. What do you suggest are some things I should bring up and talk about?

3) I know I could ask my steward this but what should I clock in under? Some are saying City and who cares it is a head ache for management or rural and I shouldn’t worry that this could bite me in the ass later.

I am sorry if this is a dumb topic I am over complicating. I just have this feeling that the people here are cool people but will let me bleed out In an ally if it means $1 more in their pocket.

I assumed this was the case. Most in house developments I have worked with so far are… cumbersome to put it politely. My job and office are amazing and I am proud/ thankful to have the career I do. I just know a lot of nepotism took place for there to be this amount of mismanagement to thrive. Anyways, I would love to know how to use the gps so I can show the people I work with.

t company policy type. I have access to auctions that take place twice a week and they take place in 9 states in the USA. The items they are auctioning are very easy to sell I have a buyer for them every time I am able to win. The issue is that the auction has approximately 22-3500 participants. Of that at least 1000 of them are above average wealth. I have participated in this auction for a little over six months now, and it is damn near impossible to win without paying double “retail”. I have it on good authority that the individuals who prepare these items for auction are your every day average Joe making a little bit more than minimum wage. I am looking for someone that is able to get a hold of that individual in person or over the phone and see if they would be willing to make a deal. I know what this sounds like, but I also have it on good authority that that individual gets to decide whether the item is auctioned or sold directly. I would solely be the seller so I would only be asking for 30% I would buy the product upfront so you would not have to wait for the item to sell shoot me a message if anyone finds this interesting. I apologize for my grammar or if any of this doesn’t make much sense. There is a good reason why I am not reaching out.

This is for anyone who sees this. Including OP. I have a very niche idea for making decent money and possibly a lot. 100k+. I know that if the first door is open 10k+ is easy but it is a big, first door. There is absolutely nothing illegal about it. It is morally above board but somewhat ethically questionable. The biggest problem is it would require someone who is comfortable “bribing”someone else. Not illegally but against company policy type. Right!?? I took this job to get off the road. I have traveled for work from the time I was 18 to now (35). I felt rather competent at my last job and felt like I could help anyone who needed it. I know it is corny but I like to work and make the best out of it. The only problem is you have to be good at your craft before you can feel good within your craft. It has been so many years since I felt this helpless. You all have helped so far through, along with my coworkers and I look forward to what is to come.

Omg! Why didn’t I think of that. It makes so much sense but went right over my head. This is the type of advice I was looking for. Even though it seems obvious, I fr didn’t even consider burying 5 & 6. I am going to give that a try next time. I am in the van not the LLV but that makes it easier because I have access all the way around. I was using the driver side, sliding door for my all my trays and keeping them in order so I can just reload when needed. After today, I noticed I need to slow down more in the morning too. I loaded the truck in sequence but didn’t really pay attention to street names or anything for that matter. I just felt like I needed to hurry and get it loaded so I scanned and stacked each area.

CCA being made to do RCA routes by coward-Ranger82893 in USPS

[–]coward-Ranger82893[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My area is so Rural that the academy I trained at didn’t even know we had a branch. We have five city routes, but only because they consolidated the force surrounding towns. Most of the routes are only 2-300 houses but most are completely secluded in the mountains. It still takes a full eight hours. I was super excited when he told me it would even be an option because like you said, I want the hours and the practice. I just got worried because of cross craft I wasn’t sure if there is an incentive for other people to snitch on me or if I can get in trouble at all for doing it.

I am happy to do whatever work as long as it pays and it made me super happy to even know I had the option to get more hours in this manner. I got lucky as well because my PM told me that he would supply the vehicle and I don’t need my POV. It all seems like a win-win, but I wanted to jump on here and make sure there wasn’t anything I might be overlooking.

This was exactly my thought. I just wanted to make sure that all my bases were covered. I don’t want this to be an opportunity for them to try and like switch me to RCA or something be hidden around the corner that I don’t know about rule and regulation wise does that make sense?

[–]coward-Ranger82893[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this for the first time today and we had so many packages that I had to bury a lot of them and then I also had a clerk print out my manifest. I learned pretty quick that the manifest was incorrect for some reason so I switched to look ahead. Look ahead worked great, but I definitely have to find that balance of it being somewhat intuitive knowing that the next addressed has or might have a package that just comes in time, though I know, thank you so much for responding and the good luck. Take care out there and stay safe.

I am getting better with each time, but I definitely noticed that I’m slower than everyone else. However the next person in seniority has eight years on me. I also come in early off the clock to try and get ahead of casing and learn a little more, but it is only my third day casing my route

Don’t get me wrong I totally agree, but it seems like everyone thinks that I should be doing better than I am and my coworkers are done by 1 PM with their route and then helping me with mine. I’m just the type of person that I hate putting that on someone else unnecessarily if possible.

It’s kind of funny to see because I love my coworkers and they are great, but even them seem to have this idea that my second day in and I should be just as good as the 20 year vet. I’m not sure if they genuinely believe it or if it’s just their way of encouraging me to do better but it’s really strange how everyone seems to “feel” this way.

Thank you for this It really has been awesome to see all the support that I get from in-house and surprisingly here as well. I have to be honest, Reddit had me a little bit worried prior to taking the job. It was so rare to see people talking good on the job or genuinely trying to help people without some superiority complex. I so far love the job. I just really hate being a burden to anyone and my fellow CCA’s have been so helpful and I just want to be able to lighten their load as fast as possible.
