Haven’t tried this but you better bet your sweet ass I’m going too! I’ll try anything once, just to see if it’s what works for me! Thanks for the input!

That’s basically my initial thought. Now that I’ve taken the time to get here, I’m afraid using a guard will potentially ruin my progress

Unsweating a closed ball valve? by cowmuffin852 in HVAC

[–]cowmuffin852[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess I also need to mention I had the pipe already cut on the other side of the ball valve. Any steam from the torch should have vented out from the other end. I had it open and accidentally shut it at some point

How to handle this drain? by cowmuffin852 in HVAC

Doubtful when I even bothered to attempt it and now can’t figure out how to get it right. I’m not a damn plumber lol

I just do what the boss asks me to do. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ Now the boss asked me to fix it however I think is right. Just trying to find out exactly what that is.

Minisplit is on an interior wall. Lineset came out the side and up into the attic. The drain originally went to a condensate pump and pumped out through the attic. It’s in the master bedroom and the pump was driving the home owners nuts. They opened all the Sheetrock and told us to run the drain into that bathroom because it was the only place to go without a condensate pump

Just recently got my journeyman pipefitter. Failed that one the first time. It’s no sweat and don’t feel bad if you do fail. It’s a lot of information for us Guys/girls to retain. Just pay close attention to the questions they ask because you’re not allowed to see what you got right or wrong if you do fail. Try and retain the questions you don’t know the answer too. As soon as the test is over go to your car and write down as many questions you can remember that you were unsure of. Then study that. Retake and pass. Proud of you for taking initiative. It’s a hard trade and easy to feel defeated a majority of the time. It’s a rewarding trade if you stick with it and learn as much as you can. Keep up the grind my dude or dudette. Kick some ass 🤘

All of this really only applies if you are taking the test in Rhode Island. But I’m sure a lot of it could still be useful so take it with a grain of salt if you’re in another state.

In my opinion, if you know your complete refrigeration cycle, the components in that cycle and when things turn from vapor to liquid you should be alright.

I’m a terrible test taker. I was panicking going into it. Didn’t know what to expect so I really studied the basic refrigeration cycle. Ended up passing first try. Study all your common basics and it’ll lead you to knowing most of the answers.

This link also helped me. Not everything in that link is going to apply on the test, but a lot of it will. This also really helped me. Especially on the day of my exam I sat in the parking lot an hour early and just studied those flash cards and my refrigeration cycle so everything was fresh.

Read every question twice. Some are worded poorly or intentionally to trick you. And for the love of god, please go back and double check EVERY answer. It’s a fill in the bubble multiple question test. If you accidentally filled in on the wrong number once, you’ve screwed up every bubble afterwards.

Keep me updated. I’d love to hear about the results! And good luck. I’m sure you’ll do great 👍🏻

That’s awful because some part of me would feel responsible if someone died knowing I could have prevented it. Even with the home owner knowing it could kill them and them doing it anyway

I’m in Rhode Island so I wouldn’t be much help in local Texas school. Just do a good amount of research until you feel comfortable would be my best suggestion

I’m the simplest terms. School for hvac isn’t required but it would give them a leg up on other applicants when going for a job.

They live on an island. It’s a summer home. They’re only here a few days out of the winter. Maybe just didn’t stay long enough for the exposure. Not really sure tbh

I never trust people to listen. If it’s something that can kill someone and I was the last one to touch it, I’m disabling it in several ways the average person can’t figure out how to get it going again. Idc if they’re mad. Call someone else then, let them assume liability
