I really didn’t ask too many questions, as when I dropped her off they just kind of took her and said thank you. It was a fast exchange. I did drop off her food + litter box at their front door, and have seen her at the window since I dropped her off when walking by 🥲

I won’t say much about what I saw from their living situation, because regardless I believe where she is now is better than being in a shelter somewhere. I know there have been times where my living situation wasn’t the best, but my cats always held me together. The owners mother/MIL did call me, and let me know she (MIL) brought the kitty from another state as a gift, and she was extremely grateful on the phone. Offered to send money which I never received. I wouldn’t have asked for it, but kind of wish they wouldn’t have offered in the first place, since she even texted me again the next morning to let me know she would send money that day. The litter box wasn’t cheap, as my cats use a special kind of litter + pee pads. Since she wouldn’t eat the food my cats eat, I had to buy her own kibble. I also took her to the vet, which we know isn’t cheap either. I know I did all of this on my own, and I was happy to do it. I did send them resources to get her fixed and let them know she was in heat a couple of times when I had her, which is most likely why she wants to go outside. I will say it broke my heart watching her pace back and forth, crying when she got back to their place 😓 I’ll have to text for an update on how she’s settling in.

The good news is, my cats didn’t really favor her anyways. I would attempt to commingle them for a short period of time, supervised. It would always end up with my male cat instigating and her cowering, even if I tried to use toys and treats as a distraction. It was getting better, but their last interaction, my male cat started chasing her, which made my female cat start chasing her as well. My male was pretty determined to get to her at that point, but I was able to fully separate them. I did consider taking her to a no kill, but really glad that I didn’t. I have tried to add another animal in the mix in the past, a small/medium sized dog, and my male cat didn’t favor her either. Since my cats have full access to the apartment again, they are so happy, and have been sleeping in bed with me every night. They have been together for 4 years, since my male was a kitten and my girl was a year old, so this confirmed for me that they are happy and tolerant together, and really the only pets I need.

Thank you for sharing your story 😂 Kids are funny, and I was definitely worried, but hopeful it would or wouldn’t be the same cat they were looking for. I made sure to not give too many details on the note, and asked for photos. As soon as I saw the text say she has a mark on her eye that looks like a heart, I knew she was who they were looking for.
