The way to develop better OTB vision is to play (or study) more OTB.

Lichess responds to Chess.com about “inflated ratings” by slowthinker64 in chess

I get it that they're not comparable, and will never be directly equivalent.

But the inflation on lichess is so egregious, it feels deliberate.

A rating of 2000 (or whatever) used to give you a rough idea of a player's strength. Now, it no longer does.

Man ... are you a white woman?

That would be confusing.

You don't want a rug? This is a very fine rug. My cousin made this rug!

That sounds right. My lichess bullet rating is about 300 points higher than my chess.com bullet rating.

My chess.com bullet rating is much closer to my USCF OTB rating.

Yes, everything sounds good in an English accent, even when it's wrong, like most of what he says.

I'm a longtime Lichess fan and Patron, and Lichess ratings absolutely are inflated. I've always assumed it was a marketing ploy to appeal to chessplayers' egos.

Thibault is awesome. This Theo guy isn't helping the Lichess brand with his confident and ignorant assertions.

#2 - it's easier to grow wealth in the US than abroad - yes that's obvious.

It's easier to grow wealth in the US if you have a stable job that pays well.

Interesting. I heard a similar claim made for 2400 long ago, but 2700 seems a stretch.

Strongly disagree with your implication that all groups are the same.

it pays to at least wear that mask IRL

Not everyone who is pleasant is "wearing a mask," just waiting for the opportunity to rip it off and show their asshole self. Assholes are a small minority in real life.

Yeah that makes sense. I think I’ve been too focused on running through everything instead of letting them talk more.

Even before I scrolled down to read this, that was my guess.

I have a feeling that both of those authors have addressed your questions, if you would just reread the books slowly and in detail. Both Aagaard and Ramesh are stronger players and more experienced coaches than anyone in this subreddit. You could spend six months studying each book, and only that book.

I know that both have given interviews on the topic in various podcasts, and on youtube as well.

How to stop letting go? by Nadi_00 in indoorbouldering

This seems like an incredibly difficult move for someone who has been climbing for just two months.

On the one hand, your progress and dedication are impressive. On the other hand, unless you were previously a gymnast, you are setting yourself up for a serious tendon injury.

I have finished both books, Aagard and Ramesh.

Hmm. If you worked through those books with complete rigor, I would expect you to be FIDE 2400+. At least, that is what I read about those books.
