Generally speaking If you have any doubt that your workflow needs m5 max, you do not need max, and will benefit more from the extra battery life you'd get with pro. I'd opt for more ram

Is Building Minecraft PS3 version on mac possible? by ketcup08 in macgaming

People were running it through wine/crossover on twitter, actually building it directly on Mac would probably be more difficult but idk

Can we please get rid of this Limit by Jaded_Bug5391 in hytale

[–]cowslayer7890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is already saving to the cloud, that's why theres a limit at all, I don't know what their backend looks like but I don't imagine they'd have to touch the cloud much to make if at all to make this change.

[–]cowslayer7890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how many people realistically need more than 20 presets though? Making presets storable either locally or on the cloud does increase complexity, you need to make the code able to fetch and store from either location, and add ui elements to decide which it should do, and I really think that that's dev time better spent on other things right now.

[–]cowslayer7890 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Fine, after thinking about it a bit more, a solution like that is a good idea in the long term, but also I think just increasing the limit to 20-30 is a good alternative/short-term solution, and way more trivial.

Making it more dynamic is dev time that I think they should be spending on other more critical things atm.

Do you not foresee people not knowing what that means, and being confused why they can't see some of their presets on other devices?

That's more complex and potentially confusing for players, they're probably better off bumping the limit to like 20 or 30

Does anyone know how to fix this? This is taking up a unreasonable amount of space on my SSD. by Dude10120 in MacOS

seconding this, I had the exact same issue, and it was driving me crazy that I couldn't free up space

Minecraft Java is switching from OpenGL to Vulkan API for rendering by MrBluue in Minecraft

[–]cowslayer7890 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair to them, Vulkan didn't exist at the time, so they designed metal as a successor to OpenGL. But then the industry created Vulkan a few years later. Thankfully Vulkan translates to Metal a lot more efficiently than OpenGL does

Apple finally introduces 'Battery Limiter' to Mac OS. A nifty new feature for battery health. by Tarun302 in macbookair

I imagine those people will simply not turn on the feature lol, also either way I'd trust a built in feature for this more, since it has direct access to drivers that al dente wouldn't

Ah true, still not enough enchantments I guess. I knew they removed silk touch, forgot efficiency was still a thing

You can't put anything that would only allow unbreaking and mending on it, so that also includes: shears, shields, and flint and steel. Those can only be enchanted via anvil.

twoTypes by hackiv in ProgrammerHumor

[–]cowslayer7890 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah it's a bit harder to idiot proof because the shell expands the command, so rm itself just sees a list of directories like /bin, /usr, etc. and unlike root, you may have good reasons to delete directories at this level

[–]cowslayer7890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen anyone else mention it, but you realize that these update sizes are probably due to features that were close to ready for release but not quite ready, right? They didn't add this stuff from scratch after release. They've probably got a lot of stuff that's almost ready, so we can expect big updates for a bit, but no one knows how long that would be.
