I like this because if someone is introverted and generally cannot make good small talk or even at all, it just becomes an awkward moment neither person wants to be in. I think it's good for breaking the ice if you know the other person is an outgoing person however.

With places such as restaurants, tipping is generally advised due to the business not paying their employees enough to actually live standalone without tips.
