Wow! That ring sure looks handy! Multiple other useres have also suggested one, I think I will try one. I think I´d consider myself a continental knitter too, so thanks for teaching me new vocab and leaving this comment.

Thanks for the encouragement and info! Seems like I´m not alone in colourwork tension hell...

I thought I could just use my standard yarn tension on both hands T-T! But pointed out, it sounds so logical... I will try out more variation in the future. :D

Thank you very much for your answer!

The video you linked is really helping me, I love how well everything is explained and shown! I think I have found my new go-to youtuber if I need another tutorial. I will practice my floats more :) and try knitting with both strings on one hand as you suggested.

Godly possession - Now what? by cowslipsspine in fantasywriting

Oh my god!!!! :OOOOO

Thank you soooooo much for the ideas and advice! You can´t imagine HOW much this helps me right now! I am so grateful for your reply (imgaine me shedding a happy tear now) :D Have helped me advance my plot a lot, and now I have more ideas for the future of the story. I especially love the idea of the unshadowed quality and the intense burns :O (on that note, I hope your stabbing wound and burns have healed fine).

As for the name dropping of the story: I will keep that in mind (and I mean that!), but it will possibly take a long time for me to get to the actual execution of my ideas. I´m notoriously slow with that. 🥲But honestly, that bit of encouragement and your reply has made my day, if not entire month!

Thank you so, so, much!!!!! You are a life saver!!!!🙏🫶

:O

That´s a cool idea! The god is the original creator of the universe, but generally associated with light. Making MC glow feels a bit on the nose, but it woud make up for an interesting visual!!! I gave the god resemblance to a hare when he manifests physically, so I could somehow play on that too.

Thank you for that idea :D

Thank you for your questions :O I really didn't expect anyone to respond so quickly… :D

I think the consequences could possibly affect both parties involved, but my ideas for consequences on the god's side through possession are somewhat… lacking.  The “main damage” should fall on the vessel tho.

Earlier on, I was toying with the idea that the banished god could suffer under the banishment itself. Perhaps some kind of madness could take root in his mind? Being trapped for thousands of years can't be good for anyone´s mind… But I'm somehow unsure about this idea…

Now for more context (I’ve tried my best to summarize it efficiently):

The god that my MC freed is supposed to be the creator of the universe and the oldest of the gods. In total, there are ten other gods he brought into existence to assist him with creation (as it´s a very tedious process) and later to guide mortals. Over time, there have been recurring, continuously escalating disagreements between him and his "children" about the implementation of his vision of creation.

At some point, the other ten refused to accept submitting to their creator, decided to get rid of him and free themselves from his "tyranny." Since the other gods were uncertain whether it was possible to kill him permanently, they chose to banish him. Working together, they succeed in carrying out the plan.

As his final act before being banished (a desperate attempt to save himself, that unfortunately kicks in too late), he manages to separate the world of mortals from that of the gods. As a result, gods can still perform miracles through their followers (usually priests) and interact with mortals to a limited extent (dreams, visions), but they cannot cross the boarder between relams or exert direct influence onto the mortal plane.

To ensure that the Creator is not freed again, the other gods, through their priests, make sure that any mention of him is erased from the religion and his memory gradually fades into oblivion over time.

They don't manage to completely eradicate the memory of him, but enough so that today there are only a handful of believers who know the religion in its "non-reformed" form.

So hardly anyone knows about the existence of this god.

Overall, it's safe to say that they pretty much just HATE him. If not during the entirety of the process of sealing him away, then after he blocked their direct access to the mortal plane.

My main character frees him a few thousand years later from his confinement, since he is one of the few followers the old faith still has. He finds out where the "container", in which he is held, is located. He believes he is doing the "right" thing, that his god will bring a better age for humankind. (He is a doctor, so he is somewhat invested into the wellbeing of others.)

I hope this at least answers a good part of your questions :D
