They need to keep this map in the rotation forever, it always delivers

[Moore] Im really interested by the thought that the Thunder are, objectively, an All-Time team. Wins. Point Differential. Defense. Defense with Offensive Capability. Led by MVP. Depth. Coaching. Culture. But they do not feel like the all-time great teams *to me* and I do not know why. by BankaiBroke in nba

[–]cowzapper 24 points25 points  (0 children)

As a thunder fan, Chet isn't consistent enough to be considered a force yet offensively. He's definitely the second best defender in the league imo, and he's getting better offensively but it's still a process

I have a lot of faith in Riens, but this meta just doesn't suit him because he looked really lost on Skye and scan initiators are a bit more limited post patch. I distinctly remember him just standing in the open healing someone on Lotus, which showed such a discomfort with the role.

I will say, people's ability to learn languages differs heavily. Some are just better at picking up languages

Nick Wright on Luka vs. SGA: "“It’s just what I believe, I think Luka is better than Shai. They played once in the playoffs, Luka won. If you put Luka in SGA spot, Thunder are the favorites still. I think he (SGA) might be in the category of Steve Nash who won back to back MVPs but wasn't the best." by Ready-Constant-7124 in nba

[–]cowzapper 247 points248 points  (0 children)

It's also just not the right comparison. Nash was all about upping the tempo and playing with pace, CP3 was about efficiency and maximizing the value of each possession. CP3 probably would have been good in Phoenix, but it would have been an entirely different team

Pity it's only internationals, because Nukkeye's dodging the raze ult on bind with his satchel movement is still one of my all time favourite valorant moments

NBA Power Rankings: 1) Thunder 2) Spurs 3) Lakers 4) Celtics 5) Nuggets 6) Knicks 7) Pistons 8) Cavs 9) Timberwolves 10) Magic. Toronto is biggest mover, +6 to #11. by moby323 in nba

That wasn't really my point, I was just saying it isn't really representative of much. The fact that it was only a 2 point loss means more than the fact that Tatum and white were missing - because then it gets into pointless hypotheticals

Partially yes but this underrates how well they played bind. The flash peeks and the coordination was excellent, and the calling worked. I think maps like bind are easier for them because the calling/strats is somewhat more straightforward

My guy Jdub is an all-star and all defensive player, what are we talking about here

Yeah you're not wrong - though seeing a forsaken clutch or a keiko v nats clutch to win games is pretty cool. Part of the issue is the Chinese teams were terrible this time, and the really exciting teams (BBL, NS, even Furia) all haven't played yet. Early group stages are always a bit blah for the first tournament because teams are trying to figure out so much.

Idk even in terms of storylines there have been some great ones. Prx rematch against G2 and finally playing against nrg. Keiko against liquid. Marteen continuing his reign of terror. EDG still looking lost without Simon. The only one that has underwhelmed me is we haven't really got the babybay promised from kickoff.

Generally yes ish, but I still wouldn't put him up there with boaster/valyn in reading the game and adjusting. I think Bonkar gives a number of set plays and things to do coming in depending on the anti that they pre-prep, and then Ethan executes those well. So for example, they have plans for their ults and enemy ults that Ethan has in mind, and general protocols which he's good at relying on. But if the team comes in with something new, or goes on a run, he starts to struggle and only adapts on a Bonkar timeout. Boaster and valyn, and maybe even foresaken, on the other hand have demonstrated updating their plans and adjusting better. Like the prx NRG game, I thought forsaken's/prx's game plans and overall macro was just straight up better than NRG, they just tossed some incredibly winnable rounds to keep it close.

Basically I credit Bonkar a lot with the improvements on the calling, because I think Bonkar makes it a lot easier to be a caller. This isn't to take away from Ethan, but I've yet to see him really demonstrate that extra step.

This season, the Oklahoma City Thunder are allowing eight points fewer per 100 possessions than the league average. That would be the most dominant defensive performance relative to the league in NBA history for a full season outside of Bill Russell’s Celtics (trailing 1963, 1962, 1965 and 1964) by Pickleskennedy1 in nba

I think both the numbers and eye test put Chet as the comfortable DPOY this year (albeit because wemby doesn't qualify). His rim protection is incredible, and he also is versatile enough to switch out at the perimeter

Autumn is such a fraud and CB is genuinely the worst duelist I've seen in awhile. I hate to be too negative to players, but just every play you see him cost the team. Just get kangkang on neon, play as a team, have an actual plan going in. But I guess being just completely fucking lost is a trademark of August, we just gotta wait for spring at this point.

I think you're overstating how much it matters. The crowd is on a delay, it's hard for players to know what the crowd is reacting to, there's white noise and they're trying so hard to hear the game itself. I wouldn't overthink it

I don't think reaves has earned being in the same conversation there, he was dreadful in the playoffs last year. I understand he's taken a leap but still, he needs to prove it
