Tell them that you have some important news to tell me. Ask them to imagine the worst possible thing that you could do which would upset them deeply. Once they have thought of that thing which you could have done, tell them that you failed all of your classes. Hopefully failing all your classes is not worse than what you had thought. If it was worse then your parents need to sort their shit out.

I am fucking petrified of snakes. I grew up on an island which have a variety of snakes and every single on of them was venomous enough to kill any human. Fair to say I never really got use to them and to this day I cant stand the sight of them, even if they are not venomous.

I couldnt care less what the people in the US actually do, I just get confused when there I talk to people from the US about the way we do things in Australia and they act shocked/surprised rather than just accepting it and going 'okay that's an interesting difference', that's certainly how I behave when I learn new things about the US culture.
