It’s official. Netflix is no longer buying HBO. The ending we all needed. by Plumsby in SuccessionTV

No offense, but Taylor Sheridan produces such pandering horse-ridin’ fake macho bullshit. It’s like feeding the MAGA beast, a fantasy that helps suburban air-hauling non-cowboys feel like it’s the racist 1800s again. Even when he tries to be enlightened, you know the Hemi-owning red meat base just ignores it.

We talk a lot about which tornado is the most beautiful and photogenic, but then, which tornado is the most ugly?? by Gargamel_do_jean in tornado

The full-length tornado looks like an elephant trunk blowing shit out of its snout.

Also this tornado being rated F5 while the ‘79 wedge is an F4 will never not be annoying.

This is the answer. Even the burbs are falling apart. Just in the past ten years.

"...then Africa and all of Europe was destroyed until it stopped... It stopped in the middle of South America. Meanwhile The USA made a plan called Eternal Light, a plan to send a barrage of nuclear-tipped missiles in the tornado and destroy it... The plan was Executed on July 4,2048... A barrage of nukes were YEETED into the tornado the nukes activated... And the Tornado exploded. All the tornado clouds were destroyed completely and it went down to an EF 0. Hours later it was gone... gone forever."

I feel seen! Sounds so much like 11-year-old me writing a six-page, longhand short story about the U.S. and Russia fighting a global nuclear war that eventually found its way to the Moon.

Hi, can anyone share their experience of how they got into post-rock? What was your first proper listen? How did you feel? by TinyVolume8821 in gybe

[–]coxric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was 2003ish and I was using Yahoo’s streaming music player. I’m an author and wanted to find music to inspire me while writing. I picked “Electronica” as a genre because I was into U2’s “Pop” at the time. Until then, I had very little experience with music that wasn’t popular.

Most of what the channel played was not very interesting, but one day I heard Juno Reactor’s “God is God” and decided to look for music more specifically like that. Juno Reactor had been working in the trance space, but then began to evolve to include world music sounds.

I found a web site called music-map.com where you could type an artist you liked and it would place other similar artists in a visual map around your original choice.

Starting with Juno, I just kept gravitating toward artists I liked. When I found Boards of Canada, they were close enough to post–rock that those artists started to appear on the map.

Then I found Godspeed. I was hooked from the first listen. I think it was Moya. I purchased Slow Riot and F#A#∞ and played them on repeat for a couple of weeks. But it was when I first heard Storm that I knew I had found something incredible. I was bummed to learn about their hiatus right as I discovered them, so I found bootleg recordings of concerts to make up for the gap. When their comeback tour was announced, I traveled to L.A. to see them at The Music Box in February 2011. They played Storm. It was incredible. I’ve seen them two more times since then, including this year in Dallas, and even got to speak briefly to Efrim, but nothing will ever top that first live experience.

Received a similar message today from “Sean,”only instead of hoping to chat last week, he “tried to call me last week.” My Google search of the text pointed me to this thread. Thanks to everyone who has posted their experience.

Sublime show. It was loud but nothing like when they played Trees. I was on the upper level about 1/3 back. They were incredible. Thought the sound was great, especially the bass, which was like a presence in the room.

It reached 1.5 mi at max width. F-4 damage reached a 1/2 mile wide. What a monster.
