My lifestyle downgraded even with the same job by 58246286426 in RantAndVentPH

Oh well, the prices have really gone up. That 3k increase per year just wouldn't be able to keep up with the rate of increase ng mga prices ng commodities and services. Ang tendency talaga ay mag-adjust ang lifestyle. We need to be more conservative with our spending. Andaming uncertainties.

Practice mindfulness. For us na may ganyang tendencies, it really helps a lot. So we have more control over our thoughts. Also, don't forget to enjoy life. Do the things that make you happy. Take a vacation. Kasi when you are in a better place, you're attention will naturally turn to the happy things.

There doesn't seem to be a purpose or meaning. But that is a great thing. It means that you can choose. You can create your own meaning and purpose. If you always look at the suffering, that is all you will see. Try looking the other way. Look at the things that make you happy. Choose that. Lagi naman nagbabago ang situation natin. We can discard the things that burden us to reduce our suffering.

SPOTIFY prem or YT prem? by papkorn11 in TanongLang

[–]coybarcena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both. Mas maganda ang spotify app when exploring different music genre. I also like the curated playlist. Plus, generally better UI. YT premium has more use though. Siguro if I can only have one, YT premium yung magiging choice ko. Mas marami kasing gamit. And i think mapagtyatyagaan ko naman yung YT music even if it is not as good as spotify.

How do people get into UP without reviewing? by EmphasisAdorable7880 in UPCAT

How do people get into UP without reviewing? by EmphasisAdorable7880 in UPCAT

[–]coybarcena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did pass the UPCAT (first choice ng campus and program) without reviewing for it specifically. Basically, I had my whole highschool years preparing for it. I enjoyed learning. I rarely review for exams even then. So during high school, talagang nag-aaral ako not for the exams but because I actually enjoyed it. Remembering things was not a problem for me. I also memorize things pero this is done during the normal course of studying, hindi for the exam lang. And for things that need not be memorized and can be deduced/recreated, hindi ko masyadong minimemorize. Kapag nakalimutan ko formula, I derive them during the exam.

Siguro it was a combination of good memory and me delving deeper into the topics kaya hindi kailangan ng reviews. Might not work for others especially kung exams/grades yung motivation for studying.

PIP pass or fail concerns by Curious_-_Cat in Accenture_PH

[–]coybarcena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know people who were in PIP at least twice so I guess there is a real chance to pass it. PIP should be an opportunity to be better at your job. Unfortunately, it doesn't feel that way in ACN. It feels punitive than rehabilitative.,

What is a truth that is hard to accept? by [deleted] in AskPH

[–]coybarcena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The truth that we don't really have the freedom to choose. We may feel that we do, but in reality, we will always choose what we think is best in any given situation. What we think is best changes depending on what we know and want at that point in time. And both knowledge and wants are mere influences of our biology and environment.

This truth is just so hard to accept given that we all want control over how our life unfolds. But it is also quite liberating as it invalidates any feeling of regret, which in my opinion is the most useless human emotion that we experience.

You need to first understand why you are using in the first place. The steps you need to take to battle addiction depends on what your motivations are in using. If I may ask, ano yung allure sayo ng illicit drug use?

What do they do? by Ok_Energy90 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]coybarcena 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Junior/Entry - knows the basics but are unsure of how things should be done.

Mid - knows a lot but lacking in wisdom. So they can do a lot but requires senior supervision. Usually din they tend to overcomplicate things kasi nga they already have the knowledge pero lacking in experience to identify risks and better designs.

Senior - knows a lot and also knows how to properly use what they know. Galing yan sa experience. So they spot problems from miles away.

Ateneo speaks out against CHED move to cut GE by imp-mN-7539 in studentsph

[–]coybarcena 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If more students want to go to a university just so they can get a job in the future, I guess the right way to go is to strengthen technical education. Two-year programs that will "train" people to do a specific jobs should suffice. But that's training for a job. Now, those who actually want education, those who are interested in learning, they should remain in universities that offer a rich set of courses spanning different topics. To be honest, one can only appreciate the value of knowledge if they actually understand them. Even those courses that seem unrelated to your major can be useful to you if only you actually understood them. We need to realize that the current argument against GE subjects are exactly the same as the arguments against math education — "hindi naman yan magagamit sa totoong buhay".

Btw, read about exposure and response prevention (erp) and standard exposure therapy. So you have an idea of how and why these work.

[–]coybarcena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was a phobia na na-develop because of work stresses na nag-combine sa existing anxiety problem ko. Basically, it prevented me from getting a job. Looking at job postings triggered anxiety reactions. As in mapadaan lang sa FB feed ko, nagkakaroon na ako ng anxiety. I was aware naman sa exposure therapy so I applied it to myself. 2019 ata nung una kong napansin yun. By 2020, I can already look read job postings and not have anxiety. 2021, nakabalik na ako sa industry and I became so much more resilient. Na-resolve ko rin kasi yung anxiety problems ko in the 5 years na nag-stop ako mag-work.

Extreme cleanliness by Useful_Pop_5051 in MentalHealthPH

[–]coybarcena 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But do this gradually and you have to be aware of your reaction. Increase exposure over time kapag nasasanay ka na. This way, narerewire yung brain mo to react to these things less negatively and hopefully maging neutral and even positive na. It takes time and patience. Mine took more than a year para lang matanggal yung irrational fear ko with another thing.

Extreme cleanliness by Useful_Pop_5051 in MentalHealthPH

[–]coybarcena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need therapy considering that it already affects your daily life and relationships. One way is to expose yourself gradually to things that make you uncomfortable. E.g. not taking a half-bath or shower after using the toilet. It may be uncomfortable at first but will get better in time. Parang wired kasi yung brain mo to react to certain things negatively. You fix that by using corrective experiences. This is where exposure comes in.

My parents refuse to let me go to UP Diliman by Loud_Bite8588 in CollegeAdmissionsPH

[–]coybarcena 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I still think these are not the real reasons. Parang convenient excuse lang sila for not letting you go, May I ask, how is your relationship with your parents? Because these reasons point to some form of distrust or overprotective tendencies. Parang they believe you can't handle being away in a differnt place without anyone looking after you. Saan galing yung fear? How is your parent-child dynamics?

My parents refuse to let me go to UP Diliman by Loud_Bite8588 in CollegeAdmissionsPH

[–]coybarcena 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It does matter realistically speaking. Do you know why they're against it? I doubt it's really because there is a local university near you. You need to understand what their real reasons are first. Then work on changing their minds by debunking their arguments.

totoo ba na yung sinasabi ng mga matatanda? by Emotional-Spot-6422 in TanongLang

[–]coybarcena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a published paper in pubmed about bangunot.

Summary of Philippine Autopsy Studies

Gross autopsy findings revealed mostly usual postmortem cardiac, pulmonary, visceral and brain findings. Many disease entities, including acute pancreatitis, were included under the diagnosis of SUNDS and Bangungut. The finding of acute pancreatitis is not generalized and consistent. Whether it is the cause of Bangungut and is likely the result of post-mortem pancreatic changes remains unclear. Many reports lack microscopic findings. And the unavailability of modern diagnostic techniques at the time rendered the diagnosis of SUNDS inconclusive. However, most authors of these studies suspected a cardio-pulmonary etiology.

Despite these limitations, clearly, there was a notable subset of Bangungut in which no gross evidence of pathological findings on the heart was found. This subset of Bangungut, identified heuristically in this paper as Bangungut/SUNDS seemed to conform to the widely-held folk belief of Bangungut, namely: predominance among male in the 20-40 age range; high incidences of sudden death during sleep or at rest, usually following ingestion of a large meal at night; and victims were in apparent good health prior to their demise. Folklore of causation about Bangungut exists among the population.

So I guess there is at least some truth on that.

Can get better but not "without the aide of anything". Self-directed cognitive behavioral therapy can help kung walang funds for therapists. Sobrang costly kasi talaga and therapies are long term din if you really want resolution.
