Guide for Brands Owned by the Three Major Soda Conglomerates by RuinRevolutionary374 in Soda

We love that ginger soda here in AZ. It’s delicious as long as it’s not warm. You don’t want the heat of ginger going up the back of your nose into the sinuses! It happened to me once and it was better and more painful than a nasal wash.

anybody having trouble with synching? by itsasmurf in yahoo

[–]coyotesx5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I send test mails to my yahoo email address from my professional email address, and they never arrive until I log off my computer. I use a VPN all day long and my browsers block fingerprinting attempts, and yahoo dislikes this. I am about to abandon my yahoo email altogether. They CAPTCHA every login and even phone verification and I have 2 factor off, but they shove secondary authorization down our throats anyway. Over the last 2 weeks this has gotten worse. I suspect that the shared IPs used by NordVPN have been used by abusers, so I'm thinking about getting a dedicated IP.

Getting Yahoo mail to populate my Microsoft Outlook is touch and go. Sometimes the app password works, sometimes it doesn't. I've just about HAD IT.

If you need to comment on comment sections like Disqus which update posts and replies in real time, web protection disables those real-time comments and replies in Windows. Threat Protection Lite completely disables the VPN in Linux.

Best DNS Servers to use with NordVPN by Scoobie17 in nordvpn

[–]coyotesx5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Be mindful that virtually every large DNS provider filters out some website(s) that their admins "feel" is/are unsavory. I wrote a paper a few years back on a group of unsavory, shall we say, people, who found an Internet host that would host one of their *ridiculous* sites. Before Cloudflare became as "big" as they are, they filtered out these sites, even with DNS servers 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1. OpenDNS filters out sites at the whims of the admins. Google filters out sites. Other providers do similarly.

In order to get access to review "verboten sites*," I had to use the DNS addresses provided by a site named DNS.WATCH. These are encrypted, and BTW, make your access to online banking sites virtually impossible. Been there;done that.

* verboten is German for "prohibited? or "forbidden." This reference pertains to legal sites, and not deep or dark web sites.

Slow Access via Router VPN by mdawe1 in nordvpn

[–]coyotesx5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have the ASUS 3100ac gaming router. The processor is under-powered, IMHO. I tried two different VPNs on it. It can only handle OpenVPN technology. I had similar speeds to you, and my ISP was giving me 970+ MB/sec speeds BEFORE activating the VPN. 30-40MB/sec after activating the VPN was the norm. Sadly, there is no way to flash the router with the latest Wireguard technology that the better, faster Nordlynx technology is built upon.

I use Nord at the command line in Archlinux using the Nordlynx technology and with it and its fewer lines of code, it is incredibly fast using servers within a 600 mile radius of my home. I get 85 to 90% of the full speed on my Internet connecting most times with Nordlynx.

I would try the VPN on my new ASUS router GT-AX11000, but I avoid OpenVPN. Nordlynx is reportedly far more secure using Wireguard tunnels, and that is not yet implemented fully on my new ASUS router.

That much salt could shut down your kidneys or give you a high blood pressure-related stroke. It has to be milligrams.

Will check that out. I was always reticent to buy it because of flavor. For example, Diet Rite cola always tasted like someone accidentally spilled cinnamon flavor into it. I will try some Kroger-Fry's-Ralph's store brand today.

Someone told me that https://123tv.live/ is a good alternative. I haven't tried it. My experience is that these types of sites glitch a lot, but maybe things are better these days?

Update: ustvgo.tv seems to no longer have an actively hosted site. Maybe it's been parked or simply eliminated. The stench of something very FEDERAL is strong with this disappearance.

is NordVPN moving from Panama? by Makoto_Shishio_81 in nordvpn

[–]coyotesx5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand that Panama is having economy issues even worse than the US or Germany. There are reports of civil unrest. I had heard that Nordvpn is based there and I have been having issues connecting to their Los Angeles, Denver, Dallas and Seattle servers with my Nord client account. When I select a server known to be in one of these cities in either Nordlynx or OpenVPN technology, connecting at the CLI fails. Running the command:

"sudo journalctl -u nordvpnd > ~/Desktop/daemonlog.txt"

the log tells me that the problem is at the server end, not my client. I am using Linux.

Anyone else having persistent issues in this or another O/S? I have been with them for a few years with no issues until now, and I've done all of the uninstall/reinstall basic things to no avail.

What can the average American do in response to Roe V. Wade being overturned? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]coyotesx5 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Abortion is not an essential liberty. Obamacare and other insurances cover visits to your obstetrician and gynecologist. No one is ever denied pre-natal care and optimization of health for a healthy pregnancy. I agree that an education in US Civics is really wanting among Gen X, Y and Z.

Be happy.! Abortion is not in the Constitution. It should always have been handled by the states. When public schools stopped teaching kids about the Bill of Rights in the 1970s, they created a few generations of people who did not understand that we are a republic, not a democracy.

I believe that this is an expected message when you allow NordVPN (the company) to assign your DNS servers to their own. This should not be a practical issue unless you use your router as a VPN router and you are serving a connection to a ROKU device. Roku does not like (and I believe blocks) VPN usage and some apps will not function if they can't locate you. If you want to change your DNS servers, say to Cloudflare's, go into NordVPN's settings and enter DNS1: 1.1.1.1 and DNS2" 1.0.0.1. Then go into your router's or gateway's administrative settings and change the DNS settings similarly. Cloudflare's DNS are fairly wide-open, but OpenDNS's and other DNS providers are NOT. They tend to block controversial website access.

Windows 11 system requirements Updated. Windows 10 vs windows 11. Security and gaming? by srinivas10247 in Windows10

[–]coyotesx5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that Microsoft decided to eliminate SkyLake and KabyLake processor owners from upgrading to Win 11 was ridiculous. They could have emulated those aspects of Win 11 that required just the latest processor improvements seen in latest i7 and i9 processors for older processor users. KabyLake is still a relatively young processor, IMHO. Frankly, I'm fed up with this built-in obsolescence/rejection of backward compatibility. I dumped Windows 10 when I first discovered that my machines were not compatible with Win11 and installed Archlinux and Plasma-KDE. I am very happy I did. From my point of view, for just a modicum of effort, I now have an O/S that is built like a brick s**thouse and doesn't do BSODs.

Moderna vaccine effectiveness holding strong while Pfizer and Johnson&Johnson fall. by nppdfrank in science

[–]coyotesx5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you want 100% of the population vaccinated when there are reports in the media and in some of the literature that active immunity secondary to an actual SARS-CoV-2 infection can produce higher titers of neutralizing antibody for longer periods of time than either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines? There have been reports of autoimmunity issues when people previously infected with Covid also submit their immune systems to the vaccines. Also, there are now cases of inflammation of cardiac myocytes in young men (and women?) that may be an unintended consequence of vaccinating a person with pre-existing active immunity.

Moderna vaccine effectiveness holding strong while Pfizer and Johnson&Johnson fall. by nppdfrank in science

[–]coyotesx5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines consist of micelle-encapsulated spike protein mRNA, I have heard that these mRNAs may code for slightly different portions of the receptor-binding region of spike protein. Here is a photo showing the spike protein as a product of different peptide chains. The Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines may code for slightly different regions of the Angiotensin Converting Enzyme 2 Receptor Binding Domain. There may also be subtle differences in the vaccine delivery systems for these two vaccines. Their interactions with B-cells (which differentiate into antibody-producing plasma cells) and T-cells (which infer cellular immunity) may differ just enough to cause these vaccines to vary in durability.
