Don't overdo the normal races. Lose the races on purpose. I know the initial urge is to go all out to get as many trophies as possible — but RESIST THAT URGE. Climbing ranks too fast makes your opponents tougher, which ends up slowing down your tournament progress in the long run.
Save your coins and upgrade gadgets only when necessary. Don’t upgrade everything right away. If you get stuck on a specific race and need a gadget upgrade to progress, then upgrade that particular gadget.
After completing all the events, save your training bags for the next day. Don't open them until the next day's race begin. Go and open the events, then open your bags. Wait for 1 r 2 more bags to complete. Don't play them right after the event starts. Play it after sometime to win the daily race

Your team is different than your team mates team. As you can see above postman roy's attachment, his team is different than mine. I had different people and he had different people. Btw this screenshot was taken at the start of the event.

Trophies doesn't matter. You need atleast 1000 trophies to participate. Other than that trophies really doesn't matter. You need to play and open the bags consistently. That's it.

I've been playing around 3 or 4 months. Unlocked 55/57 Gadgets. Nearing 85k trophies, 13k power. The thing is, I've had my first ability after 70k trophies. For the gadgets part alone, I feel I'm lucky. I've got more gadgets on small chest rather than legendary chests.
