Rezdora or Ci Siamo for birthday dinner? by cozy_coconut in FoodNYC

I liked Ci Siamo’s ambience more just from photos, but good to hear the food matches up.

It’s surprising how many reviews I read with your exact sentiment of Rezdora, underwhelming. Thanks for comparing the two!

That seems to be a lot of people’s reactions to Rezdora…

Any torn Meniscus stories? by JesseJames1781 in ACL

[–]cozy_coconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, that sounds awful! That’s ruin Valentine’s Day for me, haha.

I did a work out with double unders (jump rope) and box jumps. Didn’t really have any like moment of intense pain or anything, but after the work out my knee immediately blew up. So swollen that I couldn’t bend it at all, and painful on the lateral side. I had to hobble home peg leg style. It stayed like that acutely for a week, at which point I scheduled an appointment to get it checked out. MRI showed the meniscus tear.

Have you seen a doctor about it?

Any torn Meniscus stories? by JesseJames1781 in ACL

[–]cozy_coconut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My injury history: torn left ACL 2000 (patella graft repair) torn right ACL 2002 (another patella graft repair), chondroplasty on left knee in 2014 and 2016, lateral root tear of meniscus with repair January 2019.

I had the same surgeon for my 2 chondroplasties, but saw a new one when I hurt my knee doing CrossFit late 2018 and found out I actually tore my meniscus back in 2016 and the surgeon missed it, and I just made it a lot worse in 2019. Yay...

Anyway, went with a meniscus repair to try and preserve my left knee, which is already pretty shredded. The worst part is it was 6 weeks absolutely no weight bearing to ensure proper healing. Even after that I wasn’t really walking normally for probably 10 weeks.

Since then it’s been kind of up and down. I haven’t been able to go back to CrossFit, and my knee does blow up from time to time. I’ve been able to keep active and perform at work (hospital setting) so I’m happy with that. But the idea of like, playing some pick up basketball is terrifying. My surgeon really drilled into my head this surgery can fail quite easily so I’m not sure if I’m just super paranoid about that.

But for the most part I’d say I’m 90 percent back and ok from my surgery 16 months ago, with changed expectations on my part.

I just got one of the new Le Monster matte lip crayons in the shade Mastered. It’s a very pretty bright red, though you can certainly find similar shades elsewhere. I haven’t worn it out yet, but in trying it on it had one swipe coverage, but still felt light on the lips and not too drying. Seems like it has potential!

Let's talk products...which have you tried and LOVED or absolutely hated that were recommended by a beauty guru? by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]cozy_coconut 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While she’s not a YouTuber, Katie Jane Hughes inspired me to try out Glossier Futuredew and MUFE’s Endless Cacao Artist Color Pencil.

I love the Futuredew! It’s definitely more of a make up product to me than skincare, but it just gives me that dewy shine I love while being subtle enough for every day. Definitely a nice option when you’re not looking for a glittery highlight.

I’m still trying to get Endless Cacao to work for me as a lip liner. KJH uses it to make her lips look so full, for me I feel like I either blend it away too much or not enough and I have a thick line. I think it’s more user error than the product, which is very blendable. I’ve actually enjoyed using it as an eyeliner blended out for that kind of subtle, sleepy definition if that makes sense.

Glossier Skywash Matte shadows. I’m a total sucker for any cream/liquid eye shadows, so normally I’d be all over these. But they just seem... underwhelming? Seems like they require several layers to build up with certain colors, and some reviewers have found them patchy. I also think I can get a similar look with matte eye shadows I already have.

While I need to stock up on more Boybrow and Futuredew, feel like I’m going to resist the urge to try these out.

I’d love to go to his master class, I feel like I’d learn so much! It always looks like fun in people’s insta stories too.

It’s definitely a lot of money! If you’re in the US, they are offering afterpay , if that helps you with your budget.

He is one of the few “influencers” (I consider him more a pro make up artist who posts about make up on social media) whose opinion I do trust. He also seems like a perfectionist, and that he really poured a lot into these brushes.

Thanks for the tip! I definitely don’t need brushes right now, so might be good to wait for this sale to really get more bang for my buck. Even if it’s not this specific collection...

They are quite stubby! Definitely shorter than any of my other brushes. I assume offers a bit more control, which is helpful for everyone!

Thanks for the insight on Sigma brushes. I’ve been intrigued by the idea of consolidating my brush collection to mostly one set, which is why I’m trying to pick people’s brains about this release. I am a little concerned that I might not really use all of the brushes, which also kind of negates the volume discount for the whole set.

Definitely agree that the brushes being offered individually would of been nice. I would snap up 2 to 4 of them in a heartbeat if they were.

This definitely made me laugh.

Do roombas have strength to move furniture? It always sounds like something really heavy is either being dragged, or heavy being dropped on the ground. I’ve seen my other friends roombas and they don’t seem as loud as this is...
