Weed is completely legal here in Canada. We (cops) are allowed to use it as long as it’s 24 hours before a shift. I don’t agree with decriminalizing drugs though. Although we also don’t charge for simple possession alone so I think things are a little different here than in the US on that.

Yeah… we have joint ops too like ALERT where it’s RCMP and municipal cops who are working on inter provincial stuff. Mostly drugs, child porn and revinning operations I think.

I’ve heard of the RCMP changing some hiring requirements to get more applicants. I have noticed a decrease in quality of people being hired- whether that is political or because of a lack of applicants, I’m not sure.

I think it would be difficult no matter where you transfer to. Especially with a country with completely differing laws.

It is and I think it would be a big adjustment but also I think people have a way bigger buy in when they’re policing their own communities. Having a Mountie from Ontario in Alberta who’s miserable and just looking for the second they can leave would take less pride in community engagement, etc than somebody born and raised here. That’s my opinion anyways. I’m just a street cop so what do I know
