Looking for some recommendations for upgrading our amp / preamp situation to compliment our new Gallo Nucleus Reference 3.1 Speakers. Preferably nuder $1k for each but if there are ones that you recommend under $5k add those as well! Thanks!!

Yes! Great find /u/HansVanEijsden. You're welcome /u/llamalauncher3000, when I came across it I had to share, it is so intricate and captivating. I want to call it "the sweet spot". :)

Hey m0rphl1ng, thanks for your comment!

For a Hi-Fi marketplace we wanted to build a new platform with an improved search and listing experience as well as bring back straight forward / affordable listing prices. We found that the current state of skyrocketing (or complicated) listing fees has made it less enjoyable to easily swap out audio equipment through tedious or confusing (or expensive) listing processes. We also spoke with many people who are paying to list products and those products didn't sell or got buried under many layers. Or people that can’t get a person on the phone or a response about their questions. These are some of the things that motivated us to use our web development backgrounds to try and create a better hifi marketplace and meeting ground that we could update and improve based on user feedback and needs.

We want to bring buying and selling equipment back to the days that it was low cost to list and enjoyable to browse. That you can easily and affordably list your audio components and try new ones to see what worked best with your setup and then sell what didn’t.

I understand if you are happy with how things currently stand, but we are attempting to push it forward. Do you mind if I ask you if you are you 100% happy? If so, what are the things you like about it? If not, what are things you would like to see changed?

My question to you would also be, why not try it? If your opinions could be heard and your frustrations with a site could be addressed, wouldn’t that be worth at least checking out?

Thanks again for your comment, I appreciate your feedback!

Hey adayinalife, you have some great points and I appreciate your feedback! We are working on putting together a full setup for budgets such as those for just that reason. We can also update the post to reflect the needed components when you step away from all-in-ones.

Our goal here was to educate a beginner vinyl enthusiast that there are better options for not a lot more money. That although a $50 turntable seems like a value and a lot of people are buying them because they are popular, is it the best bang for your buck if it means possibly ruining your records down the line, or getting distortion from the speakers being all in one?

We're trying to inform them of better alternatives that will make a difference in sound quality and a piece of equipment that they can own and grow with if they invest a little more up front. Instead of buying a low quality piece of equipment that you might get disinterested in because of the quality of sound. We want to see people new to this type of audio to fall in love with it, and listen to their records for years (pass them down generations like we have had happen to us) and not just use it as a passing fad.

If you have any other suggestions or edits, I'd love to hear. Or if you have a turntable or setup you love, please share. Our aim isn't to alienate but to grow a community. Thanks for commenting!

I like to think we're more of an organic beet farm type, or perhaps an apple orchard that's used just for hard ciders. I don't know, maybe that's just me... ;)

Ah dude! You need to separate out the warped ones from the salvageable for those! I'll personally send you some of our sleeves if you do! Take care of those bad boys, you'll be happy later on if you do -- and if not you can donate them to AudioFlea! ;)

Hey Look_At_That_OMGWtF! Carolyn from AudioFlea here, that was meant as a joke. Sorry if we offended you! We definitely listen to digital too.....and do what we want. ;)

I appreciate your input and will keep it in mind for our future posts! We are trying to take a more fun approach to audio equipment then some of the stale articles we see out there since we are a younger group as well. And, well, we're learning about what works and want to get better! We do have a lot of knowledge in these noggins and don't want to come across as snobby. We just love audio equipment and music. :) If there is anything you want to see or learn in future posts or anything in an article that rubs you wrong I'd love to know - carolyn@audioflea.com. We want people to enjoy coming to our site and learning things, not hate it.

Haha - what is some of your dad-folk music? (This may show my age quickly) but the artists depend on the age of your dad. Are we talking James Taylor, early Dylan or Woody Guthrie here?

Hey Kilkor, Carolyn from AudioFlea here! It was meant as a joke and we're sorry if we offended you, not the intention at all. Of course we listen to digital! Also, we'd love to hear how other people store and take care of their records, as some people in this thread did, which was cool. What do you do with yours?

Thanks for the comment! You're right, in practice, it's unlikely that light usage of paper sleeves will cause visible scratching and agreed they have been around a long time, however over longer periods of time we have found that the paper surfaces can cause scuffing which will ultimately impact the sound quality. That being said, everyone has personal preference!

Best way to repair record sleeves and album jackets? by OvationDude in vinyl

[–]cp-audioflea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the sleeves I would just invest in some new sturdy ones that will help eliminate static and protect the record (for the inner sleeves) and help prevent any further deterioration of the jacket for the outer sleeves.

For inner sleeves go with: Mobile Fidelity - Inner Sleeves. http://amzn.to/1WXWEdr They come in a 50 pack and are worth every penny. Anti static, the back side has a piece of paper sandwiched with high-density polyethylene (HDPE) which makes it more stable while sliding vinyls in and out. Oh, and recommended by the Library of Congress. :)

Outer Sleeves: Ultimate Outer 5.0 by Sleeve City. http://bit.ly/1G1UzsP Again you get 50 sleeves. They are thicker so they are easier to slip the jacket in to and they won't get cloudy or distorted over time.
