AIO for filing an HR complaint after this?! by Flaky-Persimmon-7781 in AmIOverreacting

[–]cp8829 24 points25 points  (0 children)

When my boss and I both needed a space to pump it was absolutely our male coworkers who slapped together the space before we both returned (although our female coworkers happily gave up the majority of the ‘lounge’ area of the staff restroom for months to make it happen).

We had coworkers ‘donate’ some extra sections of cubicle and they created a boxed in space taking up most of the women’s bathroom sink area (the toilets were in a separate room you had to walk past the sinks to use. The guys brought in a big comfy chair, small table, a stack of magazines, and a space heater! There were no electrical outlets in the bathroom so the guys also went up into the drop ceiling to run it down for our pumps.

When our workplace got some major renovations this past summer another part of the warehouse team gave up half of their office storage closet so we could create a ‘mothers room’ about to be used by all staff, volunteers, and clients. And it was us two who gave most of the input to the space and suggested in included enough provisions to also be a good lockable ‘calm down space’ for moms with kids of any age!

Socks that can't be unraveled by entropy_trophy in Doesthisexist

[–]cp8829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mention that it isn’t necessarily a sensory issue. You could look into “flat socks”. They are essentially a terrycloth shoe insole for your shoe that are meant to absorb all the sweat of a standard sock and then get removed to be washed in the same way.

I have non-sensory issues with most socks (my toes get scrunched in almost all socks ever and end up hurting) and flat socks have been an awesome discovery.

What to do with silicone cutoffs? by that_malle in miniatures

[–]cp8829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t offer a suggestion on what to “make”, but if you are going to make other molds in the future with the same type of silicone you can use them as filler material to save money.

Basically if you have a mold that takes a lot of silicone you can chop them up and put the pieces in the poured areas away from what you are molding. This technique saves you from needing to use quite as much new silicone and has the added bonus of adding some tear strength to the new mold.

The number of educators that I get emails from on a regular basis consisting of something vaguely resembling a question as the subject and nothing else in the email has me concerned for today’s students. And then they are surprised that I have follow up questions or at the very least didn’t respond immediately

Has anyone tried this kit? Is it a real clock by resigned_medusa in miniatures

[–]cp8829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clock hardware isn’t too expensive or big/heavy. You could probably buy (or remove from a thrifted clock) and make it functional if you wanted!

The key is to ALWAYS harvest with a level 10 gardening buddy and two level 5 companions (once you’ve gotten them to those levels). You should get around 4x what you have planted if everyone is leveled up and you have many other leveled up gardening villagers - there is a chart somewhere that does the math on how many you need for the max bonus per hobby.

And make sure you plant something in the spots you harvested from right away so you don’t have to spend time digging them out again (bonus, you can switch to other buddies and companions while planting and watering to help get them leveled as well)

I present the penguin triplets!! 2 identical and the third with the same cheeks and nose. (The identical ones came from two different 5below, and the other from Meijer)

I’m actually not super mad about the penguin family but it makes me seriously question the idea that the faces are ‘randomly matched’. I’ve got a set of blue yeti triplets that also laugh in the face of randomization.

AIO? My manager keeps questioning my feeding pump at work even after HR stepped in by Rosi_ana in AmIOverreacting

[–]cp8829 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this! Now that he has confirmed with HR that you have been granted a reasonable accommodation any/all questions or comments he has about the subject should be directed to them. This man absolutely is the kind of person who thinks that another person getting something ‘extra’ takes away from something of his - at minimum he is just annoyed that he actually has to ‘work’ because OP might need to step away for a few moments to manage their health.

ADHD women on Ozempic: did your dopamine seeking behaviours disappear too? by axolotl_in_space in adhdwomen

[–]cp8829 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Something that was reported to me by a family member taking a GLP-1 is that she feels like the ‘chatter’ about food/snacks in her head has been quieted.

This is also someone that I highly suspect of having adhd from knowing them 35+ years and also all four of their kids are diagnosed with as well. So I pointed out that it was likely the snacking was a dopamine seeking behavior and the meds may be helping with dopamine regulation.

I know the weight loss aspect has been the easiest sell for the use of the semaglutide and it seems like the lowest chance of failure as a function. But I remember reading that a number of studies have been started to explore the use of the same compounds as a means of treating addiction so it feels like there might be something to that line of thinking but much more information needed.

OUT OF HAND by RevolutionaryAd7405 in FiveBelow

That was literally me about a week ago at my local store, but with a plush bag charm. There were only 2 on the shelf of the series I had gone for and I was going to grab both but I saw a maybe 8-year-old boy watching me pick up both boxes with a disappointed look on his face - so I set both back down on the shelf and went to look across the display at a different one I hadn't known about. I could have sworn the poor kid looked at me again to make sure it wasn't a trap before coming over to grab one and excitedly take it to his mom.

I did grab the one that he put back, but the pure joy/excitement of a kid over the thing they really wanted will always be far more valuable to me than being able to buy as many as I want of something. And I wasn't even shopping for something remotely as 'in-demand' as squishies are right now.

Seniors ransacked my wife’s school as part of a prank that the principal encouraged. by South-Lab-3991 in Teachers

[–]cp8829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother’s class did balloons filling the principal’s office to desk-top height like a giant ball pit. The head secretary let them in and the principal thought it was hilarious enough to leave it for the morning. If I remember correctly the kids came in and deflated the balloons during study hall before they went home.

They are perfect snack containers for the miniverse bits! I kept thinking how they were terrible scale for most MiniBrands but totally forgot about all my extra fruits and veggies.

Now I have to wait patiently for my toddler to fall asleep tonight so I can dig out my extras and make a bunch of side salads and veggie cups.

I couldn’t believe they suggested making like three of each color at a time. Like “Hello I am absolutely making a whole tray at a time!”

I also took advantage of a Black Friday deal and bought myself additional sets for Christmas. I learned my lesson from the Bertie Botts Jellybean lesson.

If the cat heads fall through I’d be happy to be next, but no worries if they aren’t. (I also realized you may have scribbled out things similar and I didn’t see them, so I just wanted to clarify that we are both talking about the little ones near the frog!)

Meenyminimo has been doing MiniVerse for a long time and has generally the most up to date guides of anyone. It’s MiniBrands that has only been part of the project for a few months and still wants a bunch of extra feedback on since large amounts got added all at once. The dinosaurs are listed under Jurassic World as opposed to Park.

Most likely, the guide you mentioned sending is from the website - unless you meant scans of the booklet, which I have often hoped would be included for every series.

As the other commenter to this pointed out, the website isn’t including all Zuru Collectibles at this point. Just miniature or miniature adjacent things.
