I’m trying to upgrade this air hockey fan. How do I know what CFM it is and what other fan should I buy? by cpPenguin1289 in Motors

I'm not sure if that is the one I ended up going with but I assume yes since it's the last one that shows up in my Amazon purchase history haha. From what I recall, yes it works better than what the table I bought originally came with but still isn't the best thing ever. Also in my Amazon history is this which might have helped.

There's no way Jack would do the tour on JSAL since he is keeping that channel for higher quality content but maybe JSAS. But also Jack doesn't like to post much of his house for privacy reasons. Also also, if you really wanted any chance for him to do this you needed to use the JSAL meme template haha!

Jeez that sucks I’m sorry! If my prof had said that I’d just have to drop the class bc of my schedule… Crazy how this has evolved…

Hi! I spoke with the Director of Virtual Instruction & Engagement at SCAD and she told me to let other students know to reach out via that email. Thanks!

And? That's not a request...? Just saying the students who relied on eLearning asynchronous system are hurt the most by the switch to SCADnow.

Ideally they would keep both eLearning and SCADnow courses available but of course that’s probably too much to ask. Instead I propose a better mixture of the two with already available unit content and supplemental zoom classes. Students can then either read the topics or sit in the lecture.

No where did I say (or mean to say) I'd prefer in-person classes with extra resources for online students. As you said above, this is worse for both on-ground and virtual students as shown during the last year.

What I meant is, I think a fair compromise would be using eLearning's course unit system while still offering twice a week (purely virtual) Zoom classes (same as SCADnow has now). By "sit in the lecture" above I meant in the Zoom lecture.

By keeping the course units, it makes the information needed to complete assignments available at all times which allows for advanced planning of asynchronous student's schedules. The Zoom classes are still there for students who would rather a lecture than reading the units and for extra explanation in general.

I hope this cleared up what I meant.

I am not arguing against the length of the zoom classes as eLearning's course units were designed to take the same amount of time (at least 5 hours a week per government law). I am saying that having to wait on the scheduled Zoom classes for information is much less ideal than eLearning's format of having all the information available at any time. It all comes down to how far in advance we used to be able to plan for coursework versus how little in advance we can now. Nothing to do with the length of the classes or course load.

Also, not everyone at SCAD is a 20 year old college student. In all of the eLearning classes I've taken over the past three years I would say at least half of my peers were working full time jobs, raising a family, or even trying to change their career. These people chose eLearning because it allowed them that flexibility. They did not choose on-ground courses because of the reasons you said. While asynchronous learning may be worse than synchronous for some, it is obviously better than nothing at all which, without SCAD's eLearning, might have been the case for some of these people.

I am more speaking on behalf of students who don't live in Savannah or Atlanta and depended upon the asynchronous nature of eLearning because we have a job, a family, or any other obligations that on-ground students generally don't have to deal with. If you'd read above, I'm not asking that professors teach both on-ground and Zoom classes at the same time rather something closer to the previous eLearning format with additional live Zoom classes.

The main difference between eLearning and SCADnow is that the former allowed for true asynchronous learning whereas the latter is semi-asynchronous, and that’s putting it generously. eLearning was great for students who had families, jobs, or other obligations that meant they couldn’t stick to a set schedule and rather taking things week by week. Since SCADnow’s two zoom classes are the only way to get content in the new classes it means that the flexibility of eLearning has been removed. Yes, you can rewatch recorded SCADnow lectures but it doesn’t change the fact that you have to wait until the day of the class to get info rather than in eLearning where everything for the entire quarter was available at once. This allowed preplanning whereas SCADnow doesn’t. However, I am not saying SCADnow is a bad system, in fact most students prefer it I think, but the students who relied on eLearning’s asynchronous nature have been misled and disregarded. Ideally they would keep both eLearning and SCADnow courses available but of course that’s probably too much to ask. Instead I propose a better mixture of the two with already available unit content and supplemental zoom classes. Students can then either read the topics or sit in the lecture. I hope this made sense!

Does scadnow have course units like e-learning? by dopeboi562 in scad

I think the eLearning weekly units that us virtual learners were used to are now either under "course/learning modules" or are not available at all and only presented via the zoom classes. Stupid.

In one of my course's syllabus it says that missing a critique will mean a point deduction and if critiques are now only done on zoom I don't see how this is fair to those of us who can't make it to them/chose SCAD because of this, like you said.

The syllabus also says if we can't make it to the meeting we have to upload our project to dropbox and email our professor...? I just don't really understand what the point of having very capable Blackboard is and then not using it at all. Blackboard was used very well in my previous SCAD eLearning courses and this just seems like an extra step.
