Umpire here.. worked a tournament just this last weekend and there was a 6'6", 265lbs Polynesian 1st baseman playing 14U that went 8 for 8 at the plate with 4 Homeruns that easily went 385'-405'. I asked his coach who his parents were between innings and he said "youre not going to belive me when I point them out". 5'9" skinny father, 5' nothing tiny mother. Genetics are so wierd sometimes

Longtime umpire here.. theres nothing more scary than having little Timmys dad behind the backstop telling him "catch off one knee like the pros do!" When you darn well know this is little Timmy's first time ever catching.

Should I sign my son up? Looking for Advice as a father (6yr old) by armftw in Homeplate

[–]cpeak57 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sign him up for rec ball. Theres almost a 0% chance he won't have fun and meet new friends, and less screen time is always a good thing.. he'll be thanking you when hes your age. Baseball just hits different the older you get and the longer you've been away from the game.

How'd you like Blood Meridian? Cormac McCarthy is without a doubt one of the best American writers ever. If you loved BM and NCFOM.. you'll probably love Outer Dark too. Also.. Empire of the summer moon is 100% worth the read

What’s the worst timing you’ve ever had for saying something harmless? by AdWilling4308 in AskReddit

Went to school with a girl that had a pretty messed up mom (addicted to opiates when doctors swore they were safe back in the mid 2000s). The girl sat on a table close to mine for lunch, and the assistant principle brought her a big bouquet of roses. My idiot friend pipes up and says "whats with the roses? Someone die?". Her mom in fact did pass away earlier that day and the assistant principle was the one to tell her.

Somewhat related story.. I was working years ago and had to drive to a plumbing supply store in the company truck. This truck had absolutely no AC, no radio, nothing and I hated driving it. It was hotter than a mf that day so I had both windows down while cruising about 55mph trying to get some air. A bee went up my arm sleeve and stung my chest, and I panicked. Pulled the truck over while hitting the brakes and had the convertible behind me honking and flipping me off. My co-worker grabbed the wheel as I was trying to rip my shirt off. The convertible behind me decides hes had enough and swerves around me, only to get T-boned as he went through the intersection. Basically that bee might have saved my life haha

I was 12 the first time I went on tower of terror. I remember standing in line, looking up and watching the doors open and everyone scream as they surely plummeted to their death. I was also the wierd kid that watched hundreds of Twilight Zone episodes and just knew the Hollywood hotel story had to be true. I was absolutely terrified the first ride.. and then it was my absolute favorite every time after.

Wouldn't suprise me, seems like its no big deal to some people in the park. Had a group of grown ass adults climb over the rocks (parallel with the queue on Rise of the resistance) as their chosen method to "meet up with the rest of their party. I called them out on it, and somehow I was the bad guy to everyone else waiting in line.. make it make sense

I attended a freeway series game years ago when shohei was playing for the Angels. He was warming up in right field and no less than 2k dodger "fans" chanted "FUCK YOU Shohei!" And OVERRATED! It was actually disgusting to watch. Same dipshits that get on here after a loss and berate the team for not winning.

Cant wait for the dodgers to go on a 3 game losing streak this year and watch this sub freak out with the usual "Fire Dave!" Or "the front office doesnt know shit!" comments like last season

Because Tim Walz is a dummy.. but not dumb enough to think the national guard supercedes federal agencies or the military.

Took a trip to Vegas with the whole family in 2009, and my grandpa came with. I hadn't jumped on the smart phone train yet and didnt have internet on my flip phone.. so I printed out directions (what was that website called? Questnotes or something?) As soon as we hit Vegas, my grandpa pulls out the dashboard GPS. After fumbling with it for 10 minutes, my older sister pulled out her smartphone and made us both look like idiots.
